adidas Originals and Wales Bonner’s collection celebrates Jamaica

The line reimagines adidas classics, and includes vibrant designs. 

adidas Originals has gained a reputation for its collaborations. Whether with Dubai’s local restaurant Ravis or world-famous celebrities, the brand always knows how to create a buzz. Now, for Spring/Summer 2023, adidas has partnered with the British designer Grace Wales Bonner and the collection is inspired by Jamaican culture. 

adidas Originals and Wales Bonner’s reflects Jamaica’s landscape across their vibrant designs. The line reimagines vintage silhouettes through high-end material compositions and fresh colours. Wales Bonner reimagines adidas Classics, as the WB Samba returns in two designs: a neutral colour palette with a nubuck upper and leather stripes, and a silver leather upper and crochet stripes.

adidas Originals and Wales Bonner have also created clothing, which covers a light teal nylon tracksuit, a knitted tracksuit, silver anorak and shorts, and a Harrington jacket with flared trousers. Other highlights include a towelling top and shorts set, knitted roll neck, knitted sweater vest, sweater sweatpants, and short-sleeve cotton T-shirts. Plus, the WB SL72 Knit gives the retro adidas runner an upgrade, and pays homage to Jamaican culture.

adidas Originals and Wales Bonner campaign has been shot by photography and directorial duo Jalan and Jibril Durimel. The campaign combines a dreamlike and documentary quality, and celebrates the people and place of Jamaica.

Wales Bonner is from South London, England. She was born to an English mother and Jamaican father. She graduated from Central Saint Martins, and her debut show A Time For New Dreams was held at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery. Over her career, she has collaborated with adidas Originals and other high-profile brands including Dior.
