Nike’s Air Jordan 5 Halloween takes a sinister turn with black suede, Picante Red accents and glow-in-the-dark details.

Every Halloween, brands find new ways to give their products a seasonal twist. This year, Nike is taking a darker approach with the Air Jordan 5 Retro Halloween, a spooky-season release that transforms the iconic 1990 silhouette.

The Air Jordan 5 Halloween arrives in a Black-Picante Red-Green colourway, giving the sneaker a sinister look. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 5 is already one of the brand’s more aggressive silhouettes, with its fighter-jet-inspired details, signature mesh side panels and shark-tooth midsole. This latest version simply leans further into that darker aesthetic.

The upper is constructed almost entirely in black suede, creating a finish that extends across the laces, tongue, eyelets and mesh panels. Picante Red adds contrast through the signature shark-tooth detailing on the midsole, as well as smaller accents around the tongue.

The biggest Halloween-inspired detail comes once the lights go out. Glow-in-the-dark green accents illuminate Michael Jordan on the tongue, the embroidered “23” on the heel and the Nike Air branding at the rear. The translucent outsole also glows, giving the Air Jordan 5 an entirely different appearance in the dark.

Additional details include XX, a Roman-numeral-inspired stitching on the inside of the tongue, which has been interpreted as a possible Frankenstein reference. Together, these subtle touches give the sneaker its Halloween identity while keeping the overall design clean.

The sneaker is currently scheduled to release on 17 October in full family sizing. Adult pairs are expected to retail for AED 800 onwards.

For sneakerheads looking for a Halloween release that feels more quietly sinister than traditionally spooky, the Air Jordan 5 Halloween offers a subtle seasonal update to one of Nike’s most recognisable designs. So keep an eye out for pre-orders to open.
