Question 1

Where to go in Riyadh?

Accepted Answer

Riyadh offers you plenty of options, whether you’re interested in history, culture, shopping, or entertainment. Explore Al Masmak Palace, At-Turaif, Boulevard Riyadh City, the Kingdom Centre Sky Bridge, Murabba Palace, or the National Museum of Saudi Arabia. For a more contemporary experience, head to King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), Qiddiya City, or Solitaire, where you’ll find dining, entertainment, shopping, and more.

Question 2

What to do in Riyadh?

Accepted Answer

The best things to do in Riyadh today depend on the season and what’s happening across the city. You could visit the Black Gold Museum or the National Museum, shop at Riyadh Park, or spend an evening dining, shopping, and enjoying live entertainment at Boulevard Riyadh City. Alternatively, you could play a round at Five Iron Golf, or discover one of the capital’s latest dining destinations.

If you’re looking for things to do in Riyadh with family, consider heading to Aquarabia or Six Flags Qiddiya City, a cultural visit to At-Turaif, or an evening exploring the city’s restaurants and entertainment venues.

Smart tip: Check local listings and event schedules before heading out, as seasonal festivals, concerts, exhibitions, and pop-ups regularly add new and unmissable experiences to the city’s calendar.

Question 3

What are the best things to do in Riyadh?

Accepted Answer

The best Riyadh attractions range from UNESCO-listed heritage sites to modern entertainment districts and outdoor adventures. For history and culture, visit Al Masmak Palace, At-Turaif, the Black Gold Museum, and Murabba Palace, or take in the most stunning views of the city from the Kingdom Centre Sky Bridge.

If you’re looking for things to do in Riyadh with kids, Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City are standout choices, while Boulevard Riyadh City offers further family-friendly options. Couples can enjoy a relaxed dinner, explore KAFD, or try something different, like an indoor golf session at Five Iron Golf.

If you have just 24 hours in Riyadh, focus on a few highlights rather than trying to see everything. A morning in Diriyah, an afternoon exploring the city centre, and an evening at Boulevard Riyadh City makes for a varied introduction to the capital. For a more detailed Riyadh itinerary, you’re going to need more time to explore the city’s museums, restaurants, shopping destinations, and cultural attractions.

Question 4

What is Riyadh famous for?

Accepted Answer

Riyadh is known for its fascinating contrast between Saudi heritage and rapid modern development. The capital is home to historic places like Diriyah and Al Masmak Palace, alongside modern landmarks like Kingdom Centre and the futuristic King Abdullah Financial District. The city is also recognised for its growing cultural and entertainment scene, with major events, exhibitions, concerts, restaurants, and seasonal festivals taking place throughout the year.

Question 5

What should I wear when visiting Riyadh?

Accepted Answer

You should dress modestly when visiting Riyadh, particularly when you’re at religious or cultural sites. Loose-fitting clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is recommended for both men and women. Opt for lightweight fabrics during the warmer months. Women are not required to wear an abaya, although carrying a lightweight layer can be useful when visiting more conservative settings. And as a general rule, wear comfortable footwear when exploring historic districts or outdoor attractions.

Question 6

Are Riyadh attractions open on weekends?

Accepted Answer

Yes, most major attractions in Riyadh operate even during the weekend, although opening hours vary between venues and can change during Ramadan, public holidays, and seasonal events. Popular destinations like museums, entertainment districts, shopping centres, and Diriyah, typically welcome visitors throughout the weekend, with some venues extending their hours into the evening. It’s best to check the official opening times before visiting, particularly if you’re planning things to do in Riyadh this weekend.

You need to book access passes for Diriyah’s Bujairi Terrace, available on their official website.

Question 7

What are the best day trips from Riyadh?

Accepted Answer

Some of the most rewarding day trips from Riyadh take you beyond the city’s urban landscape and into Saudi Arabia’s dramatic natural and historical surroundings. The Edge of the World is a popular choice for spectacular desert scenery, while the Red Sand Dunes offer opportunities for dune experiences and desert excursions. Diriyah can also work as a half-day outing if you’re looking for history and culture without travelling far from the city.

If you only have one day in Riyadh and don’t want to spend most of it travelling, staying within the capital is a better option. You’ll have enough time to explore one or two major attractions, enjoy a traditional meal, and experience Riyadh after dark.
