The Grammy-winning artist puts her stamp on Vans classics, workwear-inspired clothing and a new split-toe hiking shoe.

Musicians and sneaker brands have long gone hand in hand, but the relationship between SZA and Vans is shaping up to be more substantial than the average celebrity collaboration. After being named Artistic Director of Vans in August 2025, the Grammy-winning singer is now unveiling her first full collection with the Californian footwear brand.

Called VANSZA, the collection spans footwear, clothing and accessories, with designs informed by SZA’s personal wardrobe and her interest in nature, exploration and self-expression. The range made its public debut through an immersive New York Fashion Week installation before its first retail release on 22 October 2026.

The collection will arrive across two drops, starting with footwear that puts a playful spin on familiar Vans silhouettes. The VANSZA Authentic Kickdown reworks the classic Authentic using distressed canvas and fish illustrations created by artist Sage Adams. A collapsible heel references SZA’s habit of stepping on the backs of her shoes, transforming a personal quirk into part of the design.

There is also the VANSZA Knu Skool Mule, which turns one of SZA’s favourite Vans styles into a backless slip-on. Its chunky profile stays close to the recognisable Knu Skool shape while introducing an easier, more casual construction.

Clothing follows the same personal approach. The VANSZA Workwear Trompe L’Oeil Fleece Set recreates the appearance of a worn workwear jacket from SZA’s own wardrobe as a photographic print across a fleece crewneck and matching sweatpants. Elsewhere, the VANSZA Denim Hunting Jacket and Multi-Pocket Denim Pant incorporate washed denim, oversized fits, corduroy details and exaggerated pockets. Outdoor shorts, graphic T-shirts, hoodies and accessories round out the wider collection.

The second release, arriving on 8 April 2027, introduces VANSZA’s most unusual silhouette. The VANSZA LX Tabi Hiker marks a new footwear direction for Vans, combining a split-toe design with trail-inspired details, toggle laces and a substantial lugged sole. The shoe will arrive in several colour combinations selected by SZA, including blue and orange, earthy brown and green tones, and a black and red version.

Drop 2 will also feature a traditional VANSZA Knu Skool dressed in RealTree camouflage, complete with interchangeable laces and detailing influenced by the natural world.

Rather than simply applying a famous name to existing products, VANSZA gives SZA room to reshape Vans through the clothes she wears, the outdoors she draws inspiration from and her unconventional approach to footwear. From fish-covered Authentics to split-toe hikers, it is a collaboration that feels distinctly connected to her creative identity.
