The Japanese clothing label is expanding its LifeWear offering with three hijab styles designed for daily dressing.
Uniqlo is placing modest fashion at the heart of its everyday essentials. The Japanese clothing label will launch a new standalone Uniqlo Hijab collection on Monday, 17 August 2026, bringing its focus on comfort, functionality and accessible design to a wardrobe staple worn by millions of women.
The launch introduces three distinct designs: the Satin Hijab, Georgette Hijab and AIRism UV Protection Hijab. Rather than forming part of a limited designer collaboration, the pieces will join Uniqlo’s wider LifeWear offering, giving customers a choice of materials, silhouettes and colours for work, social occasions and daily dressing.
The Satin Hijab has been designed for dressier moments, using a lightweight material with a subtle sheen. Presented in a rectangular pashmina shape, it can be wrapped and styled in several ways. The design is offered in six shades, including black, light grey, pink, red, brown and navy. Uniqlo’s product information lists the fabric as polyester, with recycled fibres accounting for part of its composition.
For a softer drape, the Georgette Hijab comes in a lightweight rectangular design made using recycled polyester. Its broader colour palette covers 12 options, ranging from black, beige and natural tones to olive, light blue, pink and deep wine. The versatile shape allows it to be worn loosely over the shoulders or wrapped more securely around the head and neck.
The most functional addition is the AIRism UV Protection Hijab. Created in an easy-to-wear triangular shape, the instant hijab is designed to reduce the time required for folding and styling. Its smooth material combines nylon, modal and stretch fibres, while the colour selection includes beige, grey, black, pink, brown, olive, blue and navy. Uniqlo describes the AIRism design as a comfortable everyday option that helps wearers remain cool while providing UV protection.
Although Malaysia is promoting the range for an August launch, Uniqlo Indonesia has also listed all three designs for release in mid-August. The official Indonesian website prices each hijab at IDR 199,000 and also lists a Dry Inner Cap designed to be worn underneath. This suggests the collection will have a wider Southeast Asian debut rather than remaining exclusive to Malaysia.
The launch builds on Uniqlo’s previous work in modest fashion. The retailer collaborated with British-Japanese designer Hana Tajima on collections combining modest silhouettes with its LifeWear philosophy. By March 2016, the partnership had already launched across Southeast Asia and the United States before arriving in the United Kingdom. Previous collections also featured AIRism hijabs, inner caps, long dresses and loose-fitting separates.
