Hijaz Eye in Madina aims to offer panoramic city views of the holy city in Saudi Arabia.

For millions of travellers, a visit to Madina is a deeply spiritual experience centred around faith, reflection, and history. But as Saudi Arabia continues to expand its tourism offering, the holy city is also introducing new attractions. One of the latest projects capturing attention is Hijaz Eye, set to open in Madina.

Hijaz Eye is a proposed giant observation wheel that promises spectacular panoramic views over Madina, according to AGBI. Planned as a landmark leisure attraction, it will be built on a 33,700-square-metre site in Madina — roughly the size of five football pitches. While officials have yet to confirm the wheel’s final height, the project is already being promoted as “the best destination to get a bird’s-eye view of the city,” offering visitors breathtaking views.

Rua Al Madinah megaproject

The giant Ferris wheel is being positioned as a new tourism experience that complements Madina’s religious significance while introducing a fresh lifestyle attraction for pilgrims, domestic travellers and international visitors alike. It offers a unique vantage point that allows guests to admire Madina’s skyline from above.

The attraction forms part of Saudi Arabia’s wider strategy to diversify tourism experiences beyond religious travel. The project is intended to foster greater cultural interaction among visitors from around the world while enhancing the overall visitor experience. For travellers looking for more things to do in Madina, the observation wheel could become a must-visit stop alongside the city’s historic and spiritual sites.

Marriott Madinah

An official Hijaz Eye opening date has not yet been announced. However, once completed, it is expected to become one of the most talked-about new Madina attractions, offering visitors an entirely new perspective of the holy city.

Hijaz Eye is another step in the Kingdom’s transformation of its tourism landscape. By creating lifestyle experiences that encourage visitors to explore, linger and connect with Madina beyond their pilgrimage, it reflects a broader shift toward a more immersive, experience-led approach to tourism.
