The creators of Dubai’s most talked-about address are bringing their signature spectacle to South Male Atoll.
When it comes to iconic properties in the UAE, Atlantis immediately comes to mind. Known for its architecture, world-class amenities, and luxury level, the Atlantis properties have set a benchmark. And now, this brand is casting its gaze to the Indian Ocean with Atlantis The Royal, Maldives.
Set on Vaaredhdhoo Faru Island in South Male Atoll, the resort spans approximately 1,368,890 square metres with more than 5.8 kilometres of beachfront, and will be reachable by a 10-minute seaplane journey or a 25-minute speedboat ride from Male’s Velana International Airport. Opening in 2029, it is positioned to bring a new level of luxury to one of the world’s favourite escape routes.

In keeping with the Atlantis aesthetic, architecture and landscape will be shaped to complement the island setting. The masterplan divides the resort into two experiences. Family Island will cater to multi-generational travellers with active amenities and effortless access to the water. Luxury Island will focus on heightened privacy and tranquillity. Across both, guests can expect 493 keys, comprising 270 hotel rooms and 223 villas and mansions.
Dining will sit at the heart of the experience. The resort is slated to feature 20 destinations, with signature venues such as Gastronomy, The Royal Tearoom, and Ossiano joining the line-up. A selection of celebrity chef concepts and beach clubs will round out the culinary calendar, creating reasons to return from breakfast through late night.

Signature Atlantis attractions are also part of the plan. An Aquaventure waterpark with 15 rides will anchor the family proposition, while a Lost Chambers Aquarium brings the brand’s aquatic storytelling to the Maldives. The Atlantis Atlas Project will guide on-site sustainability and community initiatives.
Wellness is given equal weight. A comprehensive spa, overwater yoga platforms, botanical alchemy zones, a beauty salon, a recovery studio and a fully equipped fitness centre will serve guests looking to reset. Retail and flexible event spaces complete the picture, allowing for destination weddings, milestone celebrations and executive retreats.
For a brand that has redefined ultra-luxury hospitality in Dubai and the Bahamas, the move into the Maldives is a natural evolution. With its opening set for 2029, Atlantis The Royal, Maldives, is poised to become a must-visit for travellers from the region and around the world.
