The team behind Ixchel is opening a modern British restaurant on King’s Road.

Chelsea’s dining scene is looking up. Beatrix, a new modern British brasserie from the team behind Mexican restaurant Ixchel, is scheduled to open in January 2027. Taking over the top floor of The Gaumont building on King’s Road, opposite Chelsea Town Hall, the restaurant will pair an English garden-inspired setting with a menu of British favourites.

The rooftop location is a significant part of the appeal. Beatrix will feature a wrap-around terrace with full weatherproofing, making outdoor dining an option beyond London’s brief summer months. For anyone who likes the idea of a January lunch on a terrace but is less enthusiastic about the forecast, that sounds like a promising proposition.

The Nanu Group, whose portfolio includes Ixchel and Mistress of Mayfair, is responsible for the interiors. With an English garden informing the concept, the setting will offer a different perspective on one of Chelsea’s best-known shopping and dining streets.

In the kitchen, chef Eamon Reis will oversee the menu. His experience includes a stint as acting head chef at Straker’s in Notting Hill, alongside previous roles at Brat and Lardo. At Beatrix, the focus shifts to modern British brasserie cooking, with seafood, substantial sharing dishes and familiar puddings taking centre stage.

Devon crab crumpets and beef tartare are among the dishes announced, while Cornish hake with sea beet offers another reason for seafood lovers to take note. Those ordering for the table can look forward to Beatrix Fish Pie, rotisserie chicken and bone-in British steaks. It is a line-up that lends itself to gathering a few friends and settling in for a leisurely meal.

Save room for dessert. Trifle, Eton mess and apple crumble form a thoroughly British trio, while a Guinness ice cream float adds a more playful option. The selection gives nostalgic favourites a prominent place on the menu, with plenty to tempt anyone who considers pudding an essential course.

Breakfast is also reportedly on the cards. Proposed dishes include dippy eggs with soldiers and Marmite butter, alongside porridge with caramelised pear and hazelnuts. If confirmed, the morning offering will give diners another reason to head above King’s Road.
