Big Mamma, the acclaimed Italian restaurant group has landed in the City with their latest opening Edmondo.
Edmondo will feature room for roughly 200 people to dine in, as well as a separate bar.
Set to open in the October, it will be the seventh Big Mamma venue in the capital.
The restaurant group behind some of London and Dubai’s most theatrical Italian dining rooms is bringing its Edmondo to Bank.
London’s love affair with Big Mamma is showing no signs of slowing down. The Italian restaurant group is expanding in the capital once again, with Edmondo set to open in the City of London in October 2026. The new arrival will become the group’s seventh restaurant in London, following the launch of Barbarella in Canary Wharf in 2025.
Founded by Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger in 2015, Big Mamma has grown from a single Parisian trattoria into an international restaurant business with more than 35 locations across 10 countries. Its growing portfolio stretches from Paris and Milan to Madrid, London, Hamburg, Mexico City and Dubai. The UAE marked an important step for the company when Gloria Osteria opened at The Ritz-Carlton in DIFC, bringing 1970s Milanese glamour, handmade pasta and extravagant interiors to Dubai.

London, however, remains one of Big Mamma’s strongest markets. The group currently operates Gloria in Shoreditch, Circolo Popolare in Fitzrovia, Ave Mario in Covent Garden, Jacuzzi in Kensington, Carlotta in Marylebone and Barbarella in Canary Wharf. Each restaurant follows the same broad philosophy of homemade Italian cooking and exuberant interiors while establishing its own distinct identity.
Edmondo will now take Big Mamma into the heart of the Square Mile. Job listings have confirmed an October opening in Bank, while reports place the restaurant at 8 Lombard Court, the former address of The Red Lion pub. Early plans for the site indicated a substantial restaurant with space for around 200 diners and a separate bar, although the final layout has yet to be officially unveiled.
For clues about what London diners are likely to find, look to the Hamburg original. Edmondo Hamburg opened inside a former bank dating from 1897 and occupies an impressive historic banking hall. The space embraces Big Mamma’s familiar maximalism with five-metre-high green ceilings, a dramatic central bar, mirrored details and retro flourishes. Design studio Kiki describes the interiors as an interpretation of Milan’s underworld, incorporating banknote-green walls, modernist geometry, a mirror-faceted bar and ceramic panthers.

Food is just as central to the formula. The Edmondo menu revolves around Italian comfort cooking, including antipasti, handmade pasta, Neapolitan pizzas and generous desserts. Signatures include Vitello Tonnato Croccante, 24-month-aged Prosciutto di Parma, Burrata Pappa al Pomodoro and Mafaldine al Tartufo, made with fresh pasta, mascarpone, truffle sauce and shaved black truffle. There is also Spaghettoni alla Vittorio, Bufala Margherita Pizza and the group’s signature Tiramisù. Big Mamma says its dishes are made in-house using ingredients sourced from small producers across Italy.
Whether the London menu will mirror Hamburg exactly remains under wraps, but Big Mamma rarely does things quietly. This city opening could bring some welcome dolce vita to Bank’s traditionally business-focused dining scene.
