HBO Max and New West End Company have announced a Harry Potter Christmas takeover of Oxford Street.
Specially designed Harry Potter illuminations will join the street’s familiar star lights.

The London shopping destination will celebrate the wizarding world with themed lights, decorations and a new flagship shop.
Wands at the ready, London. Oxford Street is getting a touch of Hogwarts magic this Christmas, as HBO Max and New West End Company join forces for a Harry Potter takeover. The partnership will see the famous shopping street celebrate the wizarding world with themed decorations, illuminated displays and attractions throughout the festive season.
For anyone whose annual Christmas traditions include revisiting Harry, Ron and Hermione onscreen, there will soon be another reason to head into the West End. Alongside Oxford Street’s familiar star lights, specially created illuminated designs will reference the world of Harry Potter. The full designs are still under wraps, but the announcement promises a seasonal celebration for shoppers, visitors and fans alike.

The festivities coincide with another significant arrival. Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street will open on 4 November 2026, becoming the UK’s largest official Harry Potter flagship shop. Inspired by Diagon Alley, the store will span two floors, giving fans a dedicated destination to explore between Christmas shopping stops. Its opening adds a permanent address to the street’s seasonal wizarding makeover.
There is also a new screen adaptation on the horizon. The Oxford Street partnership celebrates the Christmas launch of HBO’s original series Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The series returns to the beginning of Harry’s story, following his discovery of the wizarding world and his first steps into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. HBO Max has confirmed a Christmas 2026 premiere.
For now, a little mystery remains around the street celebrations. Organisers will reveal the Christmas programme, the official light switch-on date and further images of the Harry Potter installations in the coming weeks. While the shop’s opening is already in the diary, visitors should wait for a separate announcement before planning a trip around the lights.
