The Wild Group are switching it up in Kensington.

Kensington is getting a new address for steak lovers. Lucky Grill opens on Wednesday, 21 October 2026 at Lancer Square, taking over the Kensington Church Street premises previously occupied by Greek restaurant Krokodilos. The operator remains Wild Group, but the kitchen is changing direction, with Scottish Wagyu and dry-aged beef taking centre stage.

The opening follows a similar shift on King’s Road, where the group replaced Fantômas with Chelsea Grill. Lucky Grill builds on that steakhouse format at a larger site, with room for an expanded beef offering and a substantial bar.

Whole ribs of beef and Scottish Wagyu lead the menu, with steaks cooked on a large grill. Executive chef Anton Vasilyev, previously at Chelsea Grill, oversees both restaurants, while Luca Gerano takes the head chef role in Kensington. Gerano has worked with Wild Group since Wild Tavern opened in 2019.

There is plenty to consider before choosing a steak. Toasts arrive with toppings of oversized anchovies, bluefin tuna or chicken liver, while a Mazara prawn and foie gras bikini adds another option to the opening dishes. Confit tuna salad also features, giving seafood a presence alongside the restaurant’s signature cuts.

For a closer look at the cooking, book one of six places at the chef’s table. Positioned between the open kitchen and the ageing fridge, it gives diners a view of both the team at work and the beef awaiting its turn on the grill. It is the spot for anyone who likes to follow what happens behind the scenes.

The large bar is another focal point, with a wine list that draws on France, Italy and California. Guests can explore the selection before moving on to the main event, or choose a bottle to accompany their meal.

Dessert offers a final decision between cheesecake brûlée, sour cherry pie and Napoleon cake. From a caramelised topping to fruit filling and layers of pastry, the three options make a strong case for leaving room after the main course.

Lucky Grill in Kensington is also holding a soft launch during the week commencing Monday, 12 October, ahead of its official opening on Wednesday, 21 October 2026.
