Caribbean cooking meets Ghanaian flavours at Array Restaurant in Accra from 2 to 10 January 2027.

Chef Nathaniel Mortley, better known as NattyCanCook, will make his African residency debut at Array Restaurant in Ghana from 2 to 10 January 2027. The programme spans bottomless brunch, Sunday roast and evening dining, culminating in a collaboration with Chef Abby.

For those familiar with the FACT award-winning 2210 by NattyCanCook in London’s Herne Hill, the trip offers a chance to discover the chef’s pan-Caribbean cooking in a different setting. Proceedings begin on Saturday 2 January 2027 with Bottomless in Accra with Natty. The opening brunch pairs a two-course menu with 90 minutes of unlimited rum punch and prosecco, while DJs and live entertainment set the soundtrack.

The brunch menu features both Caribbean favourites and Ghanaian ingredients. Starters include brown stew chicken bites with kelewelenaise and sweet potato croquettes. For mains, diners can choose rice and peas hash with ackee and jackfruit, shito mayo and red pepper velouté, or jerk chicken rigatoni with callaloo, parmesan and a creamy jerk sauce. Tilapia with kontomire and plantain mash is another option, while plantain cake appears on the dessert menu.

Sunday 3 January 2027 shifts the focus to Sunday Service, Natty’s Caribbean interpretation of the traditional Sunday roast. Then from Wednesday 6 to Friday 8 January 2027, Array Restaurant will host à la carte dinner service between 6pm and 10pm. A menu created for the residency gives guests the freedom to choose their own dishes across three evenings.

Saturday 9 January 2027 is reserved for Accra Meets the Caribbean, a supper club collaboration between NattyCanCook and Chef Abby. The intimate dinner will feature six courses, with Natty contributing three Caribbean dishes and Abby preparing three Ghanaian dishes.

Who is NattyCanCook?

NattyCanCook Ghana

Mortley’s route to his first restaurant has been unconventional. Raised in South London and inspired by his Guyanese grandmother Iona, he trained professionally before working in kitchens including Oblix, City Social and The Arts Club. A prison sentence later interrupted his career, but cooking remained a constant. During his time at HMP Brixton, Mortley worked at The Clink, the prison restaurant and rehabilitation charity, an experience that helped refocus his ambitions.

After his release came private dinners, social media success under the NattyCanCook moniker and a residency at The Greyhound in Peckham. Its popularity proved his approach could sustain something permanent. 2210 by NattyCanCook followed in November 2025, its name commemorating 22 October, the date his grandmother passed away.

Bookings for the NattyCanCook Ghana residency are now open, with separate tickets required for the bottomless brunch and collaborative supper club. Sunday roast and à la carte dining can be reserved in advance, and spaces across the residency are limited.
