The exact dates will be confirmed by the Moon Sighting Committee.

We might be one step closer to planning Eid Al Fitr. The UAE’s Emirates Astronomical Society has predicted the Eid Al Fitr 2023 dates. According to astronomical calculations, the public holiday will run from 20 to 23 April.

UAE astronomer Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the society’s board of directors, shared the predictions. If the calculations are correct, Ramadan 29 will fall on 20 April and Shawwal 3 will fall on 23 April. The accuracy of the dates are based on the phases of the moon. The exact dates will be confirmed by the Moon Sighting committee.

Ramadan is the holiest month in Islam, and normally lasts 29 or 30 days. The Holy Month marks when the Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Mohammed PBUH. During the month, Muslims across the world fast from sunrise to sunset. The last ten days of the month coincide with Laylat Al Qadr.

Eid Al Fitr literally translates to festival of breaking the fast, and marks the end of fasting during Ramadan. Eid Al Fitr is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal, and falls on the tenth month of the Muslim lunar calendar. Eid is a public holiday in the UAE, and it is celebrated by Muslims around the world with prayers, meals and gifts.
