The dates could mark a long weekend of celebrations.

UAE National Day is a time to celebrate the nation’s achievements and milestones. Also known as Eid Al Etihad, the date falls on 2 December each year, and often includes an official holiday. This year, it might include an extended weekend, but the details have not been confirmed.

This year marks the 54th UAE National Day. As the UAE National Day will be observed midweek, the government may declare Monday, 1 December, as an additional public holiday. The move could mean a five-day break, with work resuming on Thursday, 4 December.

Also known as Eid Al Etihad, UAE National Day marks the founding of the country. There were originally seven emirates, and not a unified country. The emirates include Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah. The capital city is Abu Dhabi, which is the largest of the seven emirates.

In 1971, six of them came together. In 1972, Ras Al Khaimah joined the emirates. Under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, they were brought together to create the United Arab Emirates.

UAE National Day is a time for celebration. Look out for special events, including family-friendly fun with world-class concerts, fireworks, military parades, and more. Plus, bars, cafés, hotels and restaurants will host special events and offers. Join the fun.
