A swinging jazz bar has opened on The Pointe

The 1980s-inspired music venue is located in CMP Bar & Grill.

If the sound of jazz music gets your feet tapping, then you’ll be excited to hear about 1982 at CMP. CMP Bar & Grill has opened a new music venue on its first floor, and it draws its inspiration from the owner’s love of 1980s music. So, shoulder pads at the ready.

CMP Bar & Grill is located on the East Marina of The Pointe, and 1982 at CMP pays homage to 1980s music. The venue includes black and white posters of 1980s icons like Madonna, plus famous musicians ranging from Frank Sinatra to Louis Armstrong.

1982 at CMP welcomes a range of performers including Chady & The Band with their house and blues classics, and 4 The Music Band with their soul songs. Judging from the most recent live music nights, visitors can expect anything from Prince’s Purple Rain to Randy Crawford’s Street Life. Plus, if you’re a budding musician, look out for the jam sessions.

1982 at CMP is great for groups, thanks to the booths and chilled vibe. The live music nights run from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9pm until late. Plus, it has launched ladies’ nights on Wednesdays, and women can receive complimentary red and white wine from 8pm to midnight.

If you want to make an evening of it, check out CMP Bar & Grill. The restaurant opened in 2018, and is a modern American-inspired steakhouse. The menu includes 24-hour Short Ribs, The Cheeseburger, Pan Seared Seabass and Wagyu Braised Beef Cheek. Plus, it boasts beautiful views over Palm Jumeirah and the dancing fountain.

A sucker for a good story, if you invite Kohinoor to a gallery, comedy night, new restaurant, hiking trip, cycle ride, pool day or just about any activity, she’ll probably say yes – that is if she isn’t busy planning her next adventure.
