Aida in Muscat: Inside the marvellous mountain resort

Check out the cliff edge rooms, infinity pools and 18-course golf course.

If you want to get away from the city life, then we’d suggest putting Aida in Muscat, Oman on the top of your list. With its jaw-dropping views of sharp cliffs, blue shores and white sands, it’s a spectacular spot to watch the sunrise and sunset.

Aida in Oman is currently under construction, and is located 100 metres above the shores of Muscat as well as 20 minutes from Downtown Muscat. The creation describes itself as an ode to the sea, and the name itself means present in Arabic.

Upon completion, the site will include two hotels, cafés, restaurants, shops and a wellness centre, plus an 18-hole golf course and state-of-the-art clubhouse. Plus, lush landscapes are on your doorstep – sea cliff walkways, anyone?

If you’re after more than a hotel, there are 3,500 residential units, which cover low-rise apartments, townhouses and villas. The villas are connected by winding pathways, which adds to the air of privacy and peace. So, guests can swap honking horns for the sound of waves crashing.

We’re especially impressed by the Hanging Suites – as the name suggests, they are hanging off the edge of the cliff. The suites boast a clean, contemporary aesthetic, and a floating infinity pool. The bedrooms, which have floor-to-ceiling windows, are strategically positioned, so that it feels like it is floating over the shores.

Ziad El Chaar, Vice Chairman of Dar Al Arkan Properties, said: “Most importantly, with this project, we’re working to ensure a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to building a large, mixed-use development that fits in with the characteristics of the area. Aida sits atop one of the world’s highest peaks, a place where all the noise is quietened, composing a beautiful symphony. Overlooking one of the most breath-taking horizons in the world, will lie a place bubbling with inspiration.”

Hashil Bin Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of OMRAN Groupadds: “The project is strategically designed as an extension to Muscat city to showcase the vision of progress and sustainable urbanisation. Aida will become an attractive and sought-after destination with its many residential, entertainment, cultural, retail and recreational offerings that will put Oman on the regional and global tourism map, as well as drive foreign investment and stimulate key economic sectors that will help achieve Oman Vision 2040.”

We can’t wait to check in.
