Foodie Corner: Armani/Mediterraneo at Armani Hotel Dubai

Contemporary meets casual with the freshest Mediterranean ingredients at Armani Hotel Dubai.

Didn’t get to travel this summer? Fancy all the Mediterranean feels without digging out your passport? Look no further than Armani/Mediterraneo for an evening of fresh oysters, tiger prawns, octopus, crab and lobster.

We pull up at the world’s tallest building and admire the impressive architectural skyscraper that is Burj Khalifa. It’s almost as if we’d never seen this iconic building so close before, and we are instantly mesmerised by the glistening panels as we anticipate a glamorous evening.

Armani/Mediterraneo

For a chic-eat, head to Armani/Mediterraneo located on the hotel’s ground floor, which offers a feast of culinary favourites from across the Mediterranean region, including Spain, Greece, Italy and the Levant. Thursday evenings play host to a beautiful seafood night, and the hostess shows us to our seats, just as the Dubai Fountains are due to start. We head straight to the terrace and are in awe of this magnificent view of the dancing waterfront spectacle and a view that is impossibly hard to get tired of. Over our shoulder, the Burj Khalifa stands proud, and this backdrop makes for an unforgettable dining experience.

The ambience is perfect for a casual but contemporary Thursday night, and following the fountain show, we shuffle back inside, heading straight for the buffet. Armani’s staff are attentive and ready to help us plate our preferred options, offering knowledge and recommendations for the dishes on display.

The food smells great, and there are numerous appealing options to choose from. Even if you’re not much of a seafood lover, there are plenty of meats and a great selection of vegetarian dishes too. We start with sushi, which our waiter carefully presents on our plate.

For mains, we go for the hearty salmon fillets with all the trimmings, calamari bruschetta, baked eggplant stuffed with tomato, a classic potato lyonnaise baked with onion and veal bacon. If you are a lobster lover, you MUST try the Thermidor with mushrooms and cheese.

It’s dessert time and this final course trumped the sumptuous seafood feast that proceeded it. In honesty, we wish we saved more room to indulge in the b beautiful Greek desserts, including baklava, macarons, almond bread, lemon meringue tiramisu, gelato and much more.
