Dine like a Viking at this Medieval-themed restaurant

Viking restaurant is set to open on 25 November in Ajman.

Even watched Game of Thrones, played God of War, or sang along with Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song”? Congratulations! You’re in for a treat. Because a medieval dining experience awaits at the aptly named Viking restaurant in Ajman.

Catering to the bravest amongst you, the new eatery is located in Ajman Heritage District in the always-vibrant Liwara area and will open its doors on Thursday, 25 November. For the uninitiated, Ajman Heritage District is an oasis where you can wander around the winding streets, peeping into the windows of traditional houses. Viking restaurant will be the first of its kind in the country and promises a unique dining experience that will transport diners back to the ninth century.

Viking traditions, big and small, will also be brought to life – guests will be able to choose from dishes served on customised Viking tableware (think: tankards, goblets and horns). The food served will utilise traditional Viking cooking techniques, especially the meat that is grilled and roasted to perfection. The restaurant will also offer an extensive drinks menu, including King Ragnar’s themed menu.

“We are very excited to bring this unique and authentic Viking experience to the UAE,” said Ivo Cuci, General Manager of Viking. “The restaurant is a slice of life from the Viking Age and diners will be able to enjoy different activities that may have taken place in a Viking longhouse during that time. We plan to offer visitors a chance to experience the Medieval era in a modern-day world.”

The great hall, meanwhile, will be full of adventure and plot twists. Guests will experience live cooking shows and medieval ballads by popular musician Daridel PaganFolk. The menu is inspired by the tales of the Vikings and their history in the New World. Dishes are named after popular Viking warriors, such as ‘Bjorn ironside choice’ (Where is my lamb?), ‘No meat for me! Oleg Kyiv’s king’, and ‘The Lief Erikson’s battle meal’, all of which were brought to life by Chef Antonino. Reservations are set for two different timings: the first set is between 7pm- 9pm, while the second set is between 10pm to 12am daily except Tuesdays.
