MICHELIN Guide Abu Dhabi launches in November

The dazzling ceremony takes place at Emirates Palace with a menu created by world-famous chefs.

MICHELIN loves the UAE, and we love MICHELIN. The launch date for MICHELIN Guide Abu Dhabi has been confirmed for 10 November, and comes after the recent MICHELIN Guide Dubai launch, which saw the city win 11 stars.

MICHELIN Guide Abu Dhabi will be unveiled in true UAE-style at Emirates Palace. The special event will feature a menu from the food industry’s finest including chefs Simon Rogan, Bjorn Frantzen, Cherl Koh, Jimmy Ophorst and Lee Kok Hua.

We already know that Abu Dhabi is a city packed with world-class restaurants, but we cannot wait to see which restaurants have been given the MICHELIN seal of approval.

Speaking to FACT, Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, said: “The MICHELIN Guide inspectors have been working in Abu Dhabi for some time now, discovering and enjoying the rich and varied cuisines that the city has to offer, from creative and cosmopolite dishes to more traditional cuisines of the region, like Middle Eastern, Lebanese, and of course Emirati.

“The inspectors have relished the diversity and quality of all that the gastronomy of Abu Dhabi has revealed, and they can’t wait to share their discoveries with our community of international gourmets.”

When MICHELIN Guide Dubai launched, nine restaurants received one MICHELIN Star and two restaurants received two MICHELIN Stars. The restaurants awarded one MICHELIN Star include 11Woodfire, Al Muntaha, Armani/Ristorante, Hakkasan, Hoseki, Ossiano, Tasca by José Avillez, Torno Subito and Trèsind Studio. The restaurants awarded two MICHELIN Stars include Il Ristorante – Niko Romito and Stay by Yannick Alléno.

The MICHELIN Guide has been published since 1933 and is seen as the Oscars of the food industry. The guide already covers 36 destinations across North America, South America, Asia Pacific and Europe, and now the Middle East can be added to that list.

Currently, only 132 restaurants in the world have three MICHELIN Stars, and the countries with the most MICHELIN-starred restaurants are France and Japan.

 MICHELIN, our stomachs are rumbling.
