Dar Tantora by The Hotel House is opening in AlUla Old Town

The 30-room boutique hotel has repurposed mud-brick buildings.

There are many reasons to visit Saudi Arabia’s AlUla — the Dar Tantora AlUla Heritage Hotel being one. Opening doors on 21 January, this property will take you to explore the region’s historical and artistic wonders.

Dar Tantora by The Hotel House has repurposed mud brick buildings and features 30 rooms. Drawing inspiration from the area, the venue boasts a traditional décor, created using contemporary engineering.

The property has also got daily cultural activities lined up for guests, which include fresh bread making, Saudi coffee sessions, ancient games and craft making. And it’s all led by local artisans and craftsmen for a truly authentic experience. If you’re willing to take it up a notch, the hotel’s got bespoke tours and curated adventures led by local guides called Rawis.

Dar Tantora’s also got an infinity pool with views that’ll make you think you’re in your private oasis. Other indulging experiences include a spa, which uses ingredients grown in AlUla and a culinary journey with Chef Jaume Puigdengolas.

Dar Tantora

Dar Tantora The House Hotel gets its name from this old-school sundial called “tantora.” Staying true to its name, it’s a time-travelling, heritage-loving wonderland. It offers an immersive experience, allowing guests to develop deep connections with locals, without hindering the rich cultural tapestry and natural heritage of AlUla.

John Northen, vice president – head of Hotels and Resorts, Royal Commission for AlUla, explained: “Dar Tantora by The House Hotel will allow guests to live the rich heritage of the AlUla Old Town historical village. Steeped in the past yet embracing progress, this hotel encapsulates RCU’s vision for a diverse range of accommodations as we continue to deliver on our plans for more than 5,000 keys by 2030.”

AlUla prides itself on its historical sights. The area is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra. Plus, AlUla Old Town has been recognised by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation as the Best Tourism Village in 2022.
