Critically-acclaimed Café Boulud has opened in Saudi Arabia
French chef Daniel Boulud brings the restaurant to Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia is fast becoming a dining destination. Now, it’s about to get more exciting, thanks to the launch of restaurateur Daniel Boulud’s Café Boulud in Riyadh. Now open at Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh at Kingdom Centre, here’s what you need to know.
Chef Daniel hails from Lyon, France, and he was raised on his family’s farm in the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu. As the name suggests, he is the mastermind behind Café Boulud. Since moving to New York in 1982, Boulud has become one of the most respected chefs in the world, known for his two-Michelin-starred restaurant DANIEL and the expanding Café Boulud brand. Each Café Boulud location, including the newest in Riyadh, is a tribute to the original café founded by his great-grandparents in Lyon.
At Café Boulud Riyadh, guests can indulge in a thoughtfully curated menu that celebrates the distinct flavours of French cuisine. The dishes are inspired by four key themes: La Tradition, La Saison, Le Potager, and Le Voyage, featuring seasonal creations crafted from the finest local and global ingredients. Drawing inspiration from his grandmother’s cooking, highlights include the Lavender-Glazed Duck Breast and Potato-Wrapped Sea Bass, alongside Thai-infused dishes from the Voyage menu.
Designed by the acclaimed Rockwell Group, Café Boulud’s interior combines old-world charm with contemporary luxury. The 130-seat restaurant features elegant materials such as antique mirrored glass, marble, and bronze accents, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere. Diners can enjoy their meal in the sophisticated dining room or on the conservatory terrace, which opens onto a serene garden setting.
A celebrated figure in the culinary world, Chef Boulud is renowned for blending French tradition with modern innovation across his global restaurants. Whether at his flagship DANIEL in New York or his other locations in Dubai, Toronto and now Riyadh, Boulud’s culinary inspiration remains rooted in the changing seasons, ensuring each dish is crafted with meticulous care and authenticity.
Leading the kitchen at Café Boulud Riyadh is Executive Chef Nicolas Lemoyne, a Lyon native with extensive experience under Chef Boulud’s mentorship. Café Boulud Riyadh will join an extensive restaurant list at Four Seasons in Riyadh. The hotel’s restaurants include Elements Artisinal Bakery for baked goods, The Grill for meat and seafood, Obaya for international cuisine, and Pierre Hermé for pastries.
