Jason Atherton’s Marina Social opens in Jeddah

The celebrity chef’s latest restaurant opens in Jeddah Yacht Club.

Chefs worth their salt are opening up restaurants in Saudi Arabia, from David Burke to Rainer Becker. To prove the point, Jason Atherton has created his second restaurant in the kingdom, as Marina Social has opened at Jeddah Yacht Club. 

Marina Social in Jeddah is a fine dining Mediterranean restaurant, and has been created in partnership with the British chef and Saudi businessman Abdelkarim Abbar. Jason is no stranger to the Middle East, as he opened Marina Social in Dubai in 2015 and Maraya Social in AlUla in 2021. 

Jason is the owner of three Michelin-starred restaurants, and his first solo project, Pollen Street Social in London, won a Michelin star within its first six months of opening. So, we are excited about his first restaurant in Jeddah.

The menu includes a wide-range of dishes. Starters include steak tartare, seabass ceviche and whipped burrata with honey-glazed figs. The signature dishes include seared yellowfin tuna, Angus ribeye, grilled octopus and wagyu beef sliders. And desserts range from a coconut rice pudding to poached pears with raspberry sorbet and berries. 

Marina Social oozes a sophisticated vibe. During the evening, you can expect live entertainment including saxophonists, violinists and jazz singers. 

The restaurant has options for dining indoors and outdoors, and boasts an al fresco terrace where you can smoke hubbly bubbly while enjoying the spectacular views. You’ll be wowed by the views of the Red Sea, luxury yachts, and, if you go before Jeddah Season ends, you’ll have a prime spot to watch the nightly fireworks.
