Jeddah’s historic Al-Balad comes alive with art, music, and creativity every weekend until 13 June.

The cultural heart of Saudi Arabia is beating louder than ever as Balad Al-Fann makes its much-anticipated return to Jeddah. Hidden amongst the storied alleyways of Al-Balad, this immersive festival celebrates the spirit of community, creativity, and culture, blending the old with the new in one of the Kingdom’s most cherished heritage districts.

Running every weekend until 13 June, Balad Al-Fann is back for its second edition, transforming Jeddah’s UNESCO-listed neighbourhood into a dynamic canvas for more than 90 events. Organised by the creative team at Zawiya 97 in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the festival aims to celebrate Saudi talent and heritage through a vibrant mix of art, performance, and hands-on experiences.

Each weekend is themed to offer visitors a fresh perspective. From craft and sustainability weekends to youth-focused programming and a nostalgic “sweet-scented farewell” to close the festival, every visit feels like a brand-new journey.

Expect everything from interactive workshops and cultural talks to live music performances, art installations, and calligraphy competitions. Families can enjoy soap-making and pottery sessions, while aspiring creatives can learn the art of perfumery or try their hand at traditional crafts. You’ll also find market stalls showcasing locally made jewellery, artworks, and handmade goods.

Open to all ages and completely free, Balad Al-Fann runs from 5pm to 11pm every weekend and offers a rare opportunity to explore Al-Balad’s timeless beauty while engaging with its modern revival. Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or just on the hunt for your next weekend plan, this cultural festival is a must-visit.

We’ll see you there.
