Music and Antiques in Jeddah opens a cool cultural café

The new venue includes a library, shop and live music nights.

The newly opened Music and Antiques in Jeddah is hitting all the right notes. The music hub includes a café, library, shop and hosts live music nights. So, if you want to get into the groove, here’s what you need to know.

Located in Al Batarji, Al Zahra, Music and Antiques aims to be a hotspot for local artists. The venue has welcomed DJs and singers, both Arabic and English. Plus, if you want to unleash your inner pop star, it is on the lookout for budding performers.

Music collectors will love Music and Antiques in Jeddah, as it contains vinyl records and a record player. We spotted hitmakers including James Brown, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Wham.

The interiors feel like a cross between a recording studio and a jazz lounge. The décor boasts comfy rugs, red leather sofas and dark wooden panels. There are plenty of musical nods including a disco ball, gramophone and A. Bord piano – an antique wooden one, no less.

Look out for the posters of musical icons on the wall, from The Beatles to Ray Charles, and pictures of famous artists, from Freida Kahlo to Salvador Dali. Plus, the shelves are stacked with books on popular culture, old-school typewriters and cool sculptures.

Go on a nostalgia trip in the VHS corner, which includes classic films, a cassette player and a TV. Also, if you have a competitive streak, look out for the Monopoly nights.

After all that culture, you’ll need to refuel. So, head to the in-house café, which has a dedicated brunch menu and hot drinks courtesy of Jeddah’s speciality coffee shop, Lyon67.

Music and Antiques in Jeddah is open from 6pm to midnight. You’ll want an encore.
