Saudi Arabia showcases its vision for Riyadh Expo 2030

Saudi Arabia is brimming with ambition. The Kingdom has set its sight on hosting World Expo 2030 and shared its vision for the event. In the new video, Riyadh is Ready, we got a glimpse of Riyadh Expo 2030 and it’s set to be a showstopper.

Riyadh is Ready opens: “Welcome to Riyadh, the hub of the Middle East”. The video states that this will be “the most connected Expo ever”, as visitors will be able to get from the airport to the site in five minutes. Riyadh Air will serve as the partner company, and the event will be hosted near the developing King Salman International Airport.

Saudi Arabia’s $7.8 billion bid aims to welcome over 120 million visitors. Riyadh Expo 2030 is scheduled to take place from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031. The event will explore the theme, The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow.

Riyadh Expo 2030’s bid spans 226 pavilions, which represent different countries and highlights the country’s role in creating global cooperation. The emphasis will be on sustainability, from the construction of the site to the topics covered. Plus, the organisers aim to create an eco-friendly event with zero carbon emissions, solar-powered energy and minimal food waste.  

In 2021, the UAE became the first country in the Middle East to host World Expo. Expo 2020 Dubai was a success and welcomed more than 24 million visitors.

Busan, South Korea, Rome, Italy, and Odesa, Ukraine are all competing to host World Expo 2030. The winning bid will be announced in November. Check in with FACT for the latest details.
