Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince: We will prove doubters wrong about Neom’s The Line

HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz appeared on the Discovery Channel.

Neom’s The Line sounds like something straight out of a science fiction film. The megaproject aims to redefine urban living and has got its fair share of criticism. His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Neom Board of Directors, stated that the project will prove doubters wrong.

The Crown Prince was interviewed on the Discovery Channel on 10 August. He shared: “They say about a lot of projects happening in Saudi Arabia cannot be done. They’re ‘too ambitious.’ They can keep saying that and we can keep proving them wrong.”

The Line is a 170km-long residential complex with zero cars, zero roads and zero carbon emissions. Upon completion, the area will be home to million residents across 34 square kilometres. Oh, and there’ll be flying taxis to a fake moon.

The Line aims to address problems related to urban design and aims to prioritise health and wellbeing. The Line will be so compact that you’ll be within a five-minute walk from facilities and a 20-minute high-speed rail will take you through the city. As the area will be 10 degrees Celsius colder than the rest of the GCC, it will be possible to walk all year round.

Neom is scheduled to open to tourists in 2024. When completed, it will be the size of Belgium and sit north of the Red Sea coastline. The exciting developments also range from Oxagan to Sindalah’s beaches and seas. Sindalah Island will be a luxurious retreat and include 413 hotels, 51 shops and 38 restaurants. Oxagon aims to be the world’s largest floating industrial complex.

Neom Airlines will launch in 2024.
