The Saudi Cup will now be held in Qiddiya City.
Saudi Arabia is moving quickly to become a global hub for sport and entertainment — and Qiddiya City is a big part of that vision. Planned as a mega-entertainment destination, the city aims to attract international events, tourists, and fans worldwide. One of its newest additions will be a landmark horse racing venue.
Qiddiya Investment Company has announced plans for a state-of-the-art racing complex designed to be a national destination for sport, culture, and entertainment. The project honours Saudi Arabia’s strong equestrian heritage while introducing modern facilities that reflect the sport’s future.
The new venue will become the permanent home of the Saudi Cup, widely recognised as the world’s richest horse race. The race is currently held at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh, but will move to Qiddiya City once construction is complete.

The complex is designed to set new global standards for horse racing. It will include the region’s first straight-mile turf course, a 2,200-metre main turf track, and a 2,400-metre inner dirt track. A 21000-seat grandstand will serve as the centrepiece, with the capacity to expand to 70,000 for major events. A 180-metre parade ring will give you a closer view of the horses and riders.
Equine welfare is also a major focus. A world-class Equine Hospital will provide advanced veterinary care, including diagnostics, surgery, rehabilitation, and emergency treatment.
Beyond race days, the venue is designed to be a year-round lifestyle and cultural destination. It will feature nine fine-dining restaurants led by chefs whose concepts have earned a MICHELIN nod, along with hospitality areas and social spaces designed to enhance the experience.

The new horse racing venue represents another step towards transforming Qiddiya City into a national centre for sport, culture, and entertainment. And with the Saudi Cup set to relocate, it’s clear the Kingdom is doubling down on both its equestrian heritage and its ambition to shape the future of global racing. Details on when it will open are still under wraps, but stay tuned at FACT for all the insight.
