Riyadh’s hospitality scene continues to grow, with new hotels, restaurants and lifestyle destinations reshaping the Saudi capital. Now, another luxury property is on the way, and this time it will form part of one of the city’s most ambitious urban developments. Sports Boulevard has announced a US$186 million fund to develop a new five-star hotel in Riyadh.
The upcoming Sports Boulevard Riyadh hotel will occupy a 13,500-square-metre site in Riyadh’s Hittin District. While details surrounding the hotel brand, room count, restaurants and opening date have yet to be revealed, the project is positioned as a major addition to Urban Wadi’s growing hospitality offering.
Urban Wadi forms part of the wider Sports Boulevard masterplan and is being developed as an integrated destination combining sport, nature, leisure, hospitality and community spaces. The new hotel is intended to strengthen that mix, giving visitors another reason to spend time within the district while also supporting Riyadh’s rapidly expanding tourism sector.

The architecture will follow the Sports Boulevard Design Code, which draws inspiration from Salmani architecture. The approach aims to create contemporary buildings that remain connected to Riyadh’s cultural identity and surrounding urban landscape.
The investment also supports the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s Quality of Life Program. Both initiatives place increased emphasis on creating more liveable cities, encouraging active lifestyles, expanding tourism and developing new destinations for residents and international visitors.
Sports Boulevard itself is planned to stretch for more than 135 kilometres across Riyadh, connecting a series of sporting, cultural, environmental and entertainment districts. Designed to encourage walking, cycling and outdoor activity, the development is transforming a substantial corridor through the capital.

The first phase officially opened in February 2025, introducing five destinations across the city. These included Wadi Hanifah, the Promenade, the Arts Tower, a section within Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and the first phase of Sands Sports Park.
Jayne McGivern, CEO of the Sports Boulevard Foundation, said: “The establishment of these two funds represents an important step in strengthening the project’s investment and development strategy. It reflects our partners’ confidence in the long-term value of the Sports Boulevard, as well as our shared commitment to developing destinations that enhance quality of life, support economic growth, and strengthen Riyadh’s position as one of the best cities in the world to live in.“
