The exhibition will allow you to explore art through play and imagination.

Saudi Arabia will host BIENALSUR in Diriyah, bringing the global contemporary art biennial back to the Kingdom this autumn. Running from 15 October to 31 December 2025 at the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art (SAMoCA) in Riyadh’s JAX District, the exhibition turns the country’s first contemporary art museum into a hub for local and international creativity.

Founded in Buenos Aires a decade ago and supported by UNESCO, BIENALSUR has grown into one of the most geographically expansive and culturally diverse biennials, now spanning more than 70 cities and 140 cultural institutions worldwide. This fourth Saudi edition further cements the Kingdom’s place on the global art map.

Titled Let’s Play: A Labyrinth of Options, the 2025 programme explores art through play, imagination and choice, inspired by Julio Cortázar’s classic novel Hopscotch. Visitors can expect interactive installations, walkable sculptures and works activated by audience participation, transforming the museum into a playground of sights, sounds and movement.

A total of 26 artists will participate, combining homegrown talent with international heavyweights. Saudi artists include Nasser Al Turki, Arwa Alneami, Rex Chouk and Dur Kattan. International names include Carlos Amorales, Christian Boltanski, Félix González-Torres, Vik Muniz and Michelangelo Pistoletto.

Beyond the main exhibition, SAMoCA will host two special programmes. SAFAR, from 12 November to 7 December 2025, is an outdoor concert series featuring international artists. MUNTADA SAMoCA, from 2 to 8 November 2025, offers a weeklong schedule of workshops, masterclasses, panels and film screenings under the theme Focus on Image: Tools, Language and Its Power, exploring how images are created and shared today.

Saudi Arabia’s hosting of BIENALSUR promises to be a great celebration of art, imagination, and global collaboration. Tickets start from SAR 25 and are available now.
