The event brings together performers from the Middle East and beyond.
The Intervision Song Contest will be hosted in Saudi Arabia in 2026. The singing competition brings together performers from 23 countries, including Egypt and the UAE, and will be held in the Kingdom for the first time. The venue for the event has not yet been confirmed, but here’s what we do know.
On 20 September 2025, the event took place in Moscow, Russia. The Vietnamese singer Duc Phuc won the competition and took home 30 million roubles. The Russian-backed singing competition included a statement from the country’s President, Vladimir Putin. He shared how the world was changing and wished all of the performers good luck.
Putin stated: “Today, Intervision is gathering a second wind while remaining faithful to its traditions.” He added that it was “respecting traditional values and different cultures.”
The history of the Intervision Song Contest dates back to the 1960s. The competition was an alternative to the Eurovision Song Contest and heavily featured countries from Eastern Europe. The aim was to celebrate family values and create family-friendly entertainment. In 1980, the contest stopped, and it only returned after Russia was not allowed to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest.
This year, the contestants came from China, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and more. Contestants can sing in any language, and a panel decides the winner. When the show takes place in Saudi Arabia, it aims to bring together performers from around the world onto a global stage and celebrate diversity.
