The celebrated East London bakery is making its Saudi debut as Linnet in Riyadh.
London and Riyadh share a love of destination bakeries, cult cafes and pastries worth queuing for. Now, one of London’s best-known baking brands is heading to the Saudi capital. Beloved East London bakery Lily Vanilli will open in Riyadh later this year as Linnet, bringing its signature artisanal bakes and creative desserts to Saudi Arabia.
Linnet will be located at The Oberoi Sukoon Villas in Wadi Safar, Diriyah, the ultra-luxury resort set to welcome guests later this year. The bakery will also serve as the property’s poolside restaurant and lobby lounge.
The menu will feature a changing selection of artisanal pastries and baked goods from morning through the afternoon, alongside savoury dishes, Indian teas and Arabic coffee. Designed as a relaxed all-day space, Linnet aims to pair exceptional baking with the dramatic surroundings of Wadi Safar.
Behind the concept is Lily Jones, better known as Lily Vanilli, one of Britain’s most celebrated pastry chefs. Renowned for her artistic approach to baking, Jones has collaborated with luxury fashion houses and global brands, appeared in leading publications and authored bestselling baking books. Her creations blend nostalgic flavours with contemporary presentation, making her one of the UK’s most influential names in pastry.
For those unfamiliar with the original, Lily Vanilli has become a London institution since opening in Hackney. The bakery is known for reimagining classic bakes with beautifully decorated cakes, seasonal pastries, rich brownies and inventive sweet treats that have earned it a loyal following.
With Lily Vanilli rebranding as Linnet in Riyadh, the opening is already shaping up to be one of the city’s most anticipated new dining destinations.
