Saudi Arabia’s hotel pipeline is moving fast, but ENVI Al Shafa stands out for its setting alone. Due to open in December 2026, the new property from ENVI Lodges is heading for the highlands of Al Shafa, promising a slower, more restorative kind of stay. Perched at 2,000 metres above sea level in the Makkah Al Mukarramah region, the retreat is positioned as an “immersive mountain retreat designed for families, wellness seekers, and cultural explorers” who want nature on their doorstep without sacrificing comfort.
The aesthetic is deliberately pared back and rooted in the landscape. Expect a muted palette, earthy textures and warm timber details, with macrame-style touches that soften the look. Subtle hints of green bring the outdoors inside, while natural materials keep the interiors feeling calm, grounded and in tune with the surrounding peaks.
Accommodation comes in the form of 35 private villas, designed to sit quietly within the terrain rather than compete with it. The aim is to balance openness and privacy, so guests can soak up sweeping panoramic views while still feeling cocooned in their own corner of the mountains.
Beyond the villas, the communal spaces lean into slow living. The Main House is set to include a cosy lounge and an open-air terrace restaurant for long, unhurried meals. There’s also a creative cafe and a pottery workshop, adding a hands-on element that nods to craft and culture alongside the scenery.
Wellness is a central theme, too. With meditative gardens and a two-storey wellness centre focused on rest and renewal, ENVI Al Shafa is being pitched as a natural fit for private retreats and reset-style stays. Programmes will spotlight both mental health and physical wellbeing, rounding out the promise of a holistic escape.
ENVI Al Shafa will be the brand’s second Saudi property, joining ENVI Al Nakheel in Al Ahsa. The GCC-based company specialises in low-impact luxury eco-lodges, with an emphasis on responsible construction and nature-first experiences.
