Sindalah in Neom creates a luxury island getaway

Set to open in Saudi Arabia in 2024, it will include luxury hotels, shops and restaurants.

When you start planning your next getaway, put Sindalah in Neom on your radar. Located in Saudi Arabia’s megaproject, it is set to open in 2024. The island will be a luxurious retreat and include 413 hotels, 51 shops and 38 restaurants.

Situated in the Red Sea, the 840,000 square meter island aims to be an exclusive getaway and an escape from the hustle and bustle – the development includes no cars and roads, after all. The island will boast a yacht club with an 86-berth marina and 5,920 metre golf course. As for those restaurants, they will range from casual to fine dining.

Throughout the year, Sindalah will host sports and cultural events. The Glamour Season will run from Mach to May, and October to November. The Active Season will run from June to September, and include beach-inspired activities. So far, we know that excursions will encompass snorkelling, kayaking and scuba diving.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the NEOM Company Board of Directors, explained: “This is another significant moment for Neom and a major step in the kingdom realising its tourism ambitions under Vision 2030.

Sindalah Island

“Sindalah will be Neom’s first luxury island and yacht club destination in the Red Sea, providing a scenic gateway to the Red Sea that will become the region’s most exciting and attractive tourism location. It will be a destination where travellers can experience the true beauty of Neom and Saudi Arabia, above and below the water, making Sindalah the future of luxury travel.”

Antoni Vives, chief urban planning officer, added: “The first thing is the experience of the Red Sea itself, which is relatively unexplored and untouched – a beautiful place at the hinge of the world where east meets west. I see it as the last exotic frontier.

Sindalah Island

“Experiencing it is a discovery in itself. The views, the nature and the culture will combine with bespoke experiences and a unique vibe that the island will provide, making for something truly special and next-level. It will be very hard to find such a destination like it anywhere else on Earth.”

Saudi Arabian megaprojects don’t get more sci-fi than Neom. Neom will be the size of Belgium and sounds like one of the world’s most futuristic cities, as it plans to have flying taxis, a fake moon and glow-in-the-dark beaches.

Other projects at Neom include Oxagan and The Line. Oxagon aims to be the world’s largest floating industrial complex, while The Line aims to be a 170km-long residential complex with zero cars, zero streets and zero carbon emissions.

Sindalah in Neom, we are impressed.
