The Neom Stadium will be perched 350 metres above ground and is the latest addition to the 2034 FIFA World Cup venues.

Saudi Arabia is on a stadium-building spree, with plans to construct 15 new stadiums across the Kingdom for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. In a strategic move, the country has announced plans to build a world-class stadium in Neom, attracting crowds to Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious megaproject.

The Neom Stadium will be located on levels 4 and 5 of The Line. With a seating capacity of over 45,000, including 4,000 hospitality seats, 1,200 skybox seats, 100 VVIP seats, and 800 VIP seats, the stadium will feature an innovative design that places it 350 metres above ground. Visitors will not only be able to enjoy the matches but also get breathtaking views of the Red Sea and the vast landscapes.

Beyond its role as a sports venue, the Neom Stadium will be a central hub for community and cultural activities. It will be home to both men’s and women’s professional football clubs and will host major events year-round.

The Neom Stadium will be linked to a network of tram-like vehicles running through “horizontal transport corridors”. These driverless vehicles and high-speed lifts will ensure seamless access for all. For those who like to get their steps in, short, fully electric walk—throughs will also be available to get around the stadium and its multiple facilities. Boasting cutting-edge technology, from e-ticket gates to 4K Ultra HD broadcasting, the viewer experience will reach new heights.

The NEOM Stadium will host fixtures across the group stage, Round of 32, Round of 16, and the quarter-finals. An aerial concept video of the sky-high venue has already gone viral on social media, capturing the imagination of football fans around the world.

Following the World Cup, the stadium will become the home ground for a professional football club in the NEOM region. It is also slated to operate as a multipurpose venue for concerts, cultural showcases and other sporting events.

FIFA has provided preliminary endorsement for the Sky Stadium project, recognising its potential to set new benchmarks in sustainable sports infrastructure. Strategically located near the Health and Well-Being District and the University, the venue is designed to anchor a sports-centric community at the heart of the NEOM smart city. The stadium will also align with Saudi Arabia’s sustainability efforts. The entire complex will run on renewable energy, primarily from wind and solar.

In addition to the Neom Stadium, a FIFA Fan Festival site will be built at The Line, where other tournament-related events will take place. More venues will open nearby to accommodate the influx of fans heading to Neom to experience the thrill of the FIFA World Cup.

Construction of the Neom Stadium will begin in 2027, with completion aimed for 2032. Once ready, the World Cup quarter-finals are expected to take place at the venue.
