All hotel guests in Saudi must check out by noon.

The Ministry of Tourism in Saudi Arabia has introduced a new regulation enforcing strict hotel check-out times, set at 12pm nationwide. The Ministry stated that guests will no longer be granted extra hours or compensation for late check-ins.

The policy is effective immediately in Saudi Arabia. The move standardises hotel operations and emphasises that check-out must occur on time, regardless of the guest’s check-in time – even in cases of delayed arrival. Hotels in Saudi Arabia must now adhere to what the Ministry of Tourism refers to as a 20-hour check-in and check-out policy.

This regulation is designed to align with global hospitality standards while allowing hotels to manage their internal schedules. There must be a minimum of 20 hours between the time a guest checks in and check out.

The Ministry highlighted that this regulation allows facilities sufficient time to maintain cleanliness, and prepare rooms to a high standard. It also clarified that travellers have the right to receive the exact room type, services, and amenities advertised on booking platforms.

Travel and tourism operators advise visitors to confirm any early check-in or late check-out requests in writing before arrival. Plus, to consider booking an additional night for flexibility.

The regulation has received mixed reactions from both travellers and hoteliers. Some hotels argue that the policy provides essential clarity for operations and enhances housekeeping turnaround times.

Amidst the rapid growth of Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector, this new regulation changes hotel stays in the Kingdom. With Saudi Vision 2030 targeting over 100 million tourists annually, the government hopes its policies will support its growth.
