Gardens by the Bay launches its first-ever Ancient Egypt-themed exhibition Lilytopia.
Lilytopia will feature rare flowers nourished by the Nile River and recreations of monuments honouring pharaohs and Egyptian deities.

Step back in time at Lilytopia, a floral exhibition with recreations of Egyptian landmarks and rare flowers.
The lush flora lining the Nile River will be blooming in the Gardens by the Bay greenhouse this August with Lilytopia, the first ancient Egypt-themed floral exhibition at the Flower Dome. Running daily until 27 September 2026, this showcase, presented alongside the works of Egyptian artist Salwa Elhamamsy, marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Egypt.
Amongst the highlights at Lilytopia are floral displays featuring over 7,000 species and varieties of lilies decorating a rectangular pool representing the Nile River and its importance to Egyptian civilisation. Other rare finds for flower-spotting include the Egyptian Blue Lotus, which features prominently in the mythology and art of the ancient world, and symbolises the sun and rebirth. The flower is also considered a sacred symbol, and has been found buried in the tombs of pharaohs.
Visitors to Lilytopia will also be offered the experience of journeying through time with the recreation of palaces, temples, and other architectural structures on the exhibition’s grounds. Anchoring them is the imposing Great Temple of Abu Simbel, inspired by the real-life historical landmark of the same name. Commissioned by King Ramesses II in 1264 BC, the structure famously features four colossal statues of the powerful pharaoh seated on its facade, and is intended to honour the royal’s long and prosperous reign.
Other renowned iconography includes the docking of a solar barque on the rivers of the Flower Dome. The vessel is most commonly associated with the sun god Ra, who travels across the skies to provide light to the world, and journeys to the underworld at twilight. Throughout Lilytopia, the towering statues, walls, and columns that decorate the formal gardens will be rendered with Egyptian hieroglyphic carvings from one of Egypt’s best-preserved monuments — the Temple of Hathor at Dendera. Unlike the documented records of its appearances today, the hieroglyphs featured are a closer reflection of the rich palettes that once adorned the structure.
In a space permeated by the fragrance of flowers, Lilytopia is an exhibition offering an insightful glimpse into one of the world’s most important civilisations. Tickets to Lilytopia are available from $8 for children between three and 12 years old and seniors above 60 years old. Entry for adults starts from $12.
