The award-winning rock band behind the albums Songs for the Deaf and In Times New Roman… is all set for their first-ever performance in Singapore.
Queens of the Stone Age are finally set to take the stage with their debut appearance in Singapore. On 2 December, the Grammy-nominated rock band will be performing at The Star Theatre for a one-night-only concert, making this the first time local fans will get to experience the group’s acclaimed live show on home ground.
Founded and fronted by Josh Homme in 1996, Queens of the Stone Age has built a reputation for their distinct brand of rock. Their sound is so dear and personal to the rock band, in fact, that Homme said “I don’t (share secrets) only because my sound is important to me and I’ve spent a lot of years just working it over with little tricks here and there, I almost feel like if you reveal too much of that you give away something that’s near and dear to you. It’s like you put it up on the altar and say, ‘Here, everyone take a slice.’”
Their breakthrough arrived with Songs for the Deaf in 2002, an album that introduced the world to enduring tracks such as No One Knows and Go With the Flow, which cemented the band’s place among rock’s most influential acts. Of the album, Homme once said, “This record was supposed to sound bizarre — like lightning in a bottle.” More than two decades later, Queens of the Stone Age continues to push their sound forward through albums like Lullabies to Paralyze and In Times New Roman…, proving that longevity need not come at the expense of creativity.
Now the only continuous member of Queens of the Stone Age, Homme’s vision has guided the band through an ever-evolving lineup that has featured the likes of Dave Grohl and the late Mark Lanegan. Despite its revolving door of members, the consistency of Queens of the Stone Age’s commanding performances has become the stuff of live music legend.
Now on their System of a Down cross-continental world tour in Europe and North America, Queens of the Stone Age will kickstart their You’ll See tour dates next in November.
