The Singapore Tennis Open will be elevated from a WTA 250 tournament to a WTA 500 tournament this year.
Star players include World No. 32 Alexandra Eala, the highest ranking Filipino woman in women's tennis history.

Helmed by the global Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), the tournament is all set to open the WTA Asian Swing with a million-dollar cash pool.
Singapore is poised to host the prestigious Singapore Tennis Open women’s tournament, WTA 500, from 21 to 27 September at OCBC Arena, marking an upgrade from its successful WTA 250 tournament played last year. This competition is also positioned amongst just 18 WTA 500 tournaments worldwide, joining an elite calendar of events that includes playoffs in the sporting destinations of Brisbane and Charleston.
Opening the WTA’s annual Asian Swing, players will compete for valuable ranking points here ahead of the seminal year-end championships. More than just a symbolic gesture, this WTA 500 is offering a staggering prize pool of approximately S$1.55 million, and underscores Singapore with greater international attention as a world-class tennis hub.
Amongst the most talked about confirmed players joining this year thus far is World No. 32 Alexandra Eala — the highest-ranked Filipino player in WTA history. Previously, the 21-year-old made news with a breakout 2025 season, becoming the first Filipino woman to reach the semi-finals of a WTA 1000 tournament, before cementing history as the country’s first player to advance to the fourth round of the US Open.
Returning to Singapore, where she previously competed in the WTA Future Stars tournament in her earlier years, Eala says the city remains one of her most memorable stops on tour. “Singapore has a really special place in my heart, and I still remember competing there at the WTA Future Stars as a junior player. I have always enjoyed playing in Singapore because it’s so close to home, and it’s great to have a WTA 500 event in Southeast Asia.”
This year, the tournament has also secured partnerships with Mercedes-Benz and ASICS. The luxury automobile group will provide transport for players and officials, while the sportswear brand will outfit ball kids, officials, and event staff throughout the competition’s run.
Tickets are now on sale, with an early bird promotion offering 10% off passes and selected standard ticket categories before regular pricing begins on 27 July at 2pm, Singapore time. General admission starts from S$8, while hospitality packages begin at S$500. Fans looking for the full experience of the tournament from start to end may purchase all-access passes from S$650.
