World-famous gym 1Rebel is opening its first UAE branch in DIFC

Pump up the volume and iron at this new gym-meets-club.

Strobe lights and pumping music sound like the setting of a bouncing bar. But these are just some of the components that make 1Rebel, which is a cross between a gym and nightclub, so popular among fitness fans. If you want to join the club, you’ll be excited to hear that the brand is bringing that same formula to the UAE.

1Rebel in DIFC is scheduled to open in October, and aims to make you work up a sweat while having fun. So far, we know that the fitness studio will include three main concepts: reshape (with quick rounds of high-powered treadmills and weights, which are inspired to burn fat); ride (with spin classes, motivational songs and a state-of-the-art sound system); and the open gym (with high-tech equipment).

1Rebel is a British-born brand, which began with venues across London and now boasts a global presence. 1Rebel have already expanded to the Middle East, as it has fitness centres in Saudi Arabia, with its male and female only gyms. Plus, its gyms can be found in Australia and Israel.

1Rebel in London has Refuel Bar, a healthy hotspot where you can get shakes, smoothies and a cheeky prosecco. 1Rebel in DIFC will also have a juice bar, and we are hoping that it includes some of the brand’s signature shakes, from the chuck berry (a berry-based mix) to the defcon chocolate (a cashew, chocolate, bananas and dates mix).

1Rebel will boast a pretty impressive home: the ICD Brookfield Place on Al Mustaqbal Street. The gym will have some upmarket neighbours, as the building is home to The Arts Club, a private members club, and Josette, a fancy French restaurant.

The opening of 1Rebel in DIFC feels like the opening of a nightclub. The hype is real as it currently has 300 founding memberships available. So, if you want to be the first to bust a move, you can register your interest.

On your marks, get set, train.
