Everyone’s talking about RAK’s latest attraction

The much-anticipated Jais Sledder is now open at Jais Adventure Park.

We live in a country that loves superlatives and, admittedly, we embrace it – the highest, biggest, tallest anything gets us talking. Now, adrenaline junkies are celebrating the launch of Jais Sledder, the longest toboggan ride in the region. Located at Jais Adventure Park in Ras Al Khaimah atop the UAE’s tallest peak, it was unveiled by RAK Leisure and the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As for what we know about this exhilarating new attraction? Sitting comfortably on a low-slung track, it reaches speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour as you descend the Hajar mountains, swerving through glorious panoramas with views of the spectacular mountain terrain. The speed seems amplified tenfold as you sit close to the ground. The fully controllable ride takes around eight minutes to cover 1,885 exhilarating metres of hairpin curves and undulating whirls. Incidentally, the sleds are designed to seat two people comfortably – one in front and the other in the back – so you can choose to share the experience with a friend or family member. Alternatively, you can go superhero-solo.

Single and multiple ride tickets are available to purchase at the ticket office at the base of the ride or at Jais Adventure Centre. “We are delighted to bring yet another unique attraction to Jebel Jais’ collection of iconic experiences, giving visitors even more options to experience the UAE’s highest peak. As we continue to enhance the mountain, while still sustaining and maintaining the environment, we hope to further cement our position as the adventure hub of the region and provide a variety of exceptional attractions and experiences for everyone to enjoy,” said Alison Grinnell, CEO of RAK Hospitality Holding.

Visitors can head to the mountains and enjoy a variety of activities, including the Jais Flight (the world’s longest zipline), Jais Sky Tour and the Bear Grylls Explorers Camp. Meanwhile, 1484 by Puro – the highest restaurant in the UAE – now boasts a recently expanded terrace and the new Sky Lounge, keeping visitors fuelled all day long. Jais Sledder is open from 9am to 5:30pm from Tuesday to Sunday, with tickets starting from AED 40 for one adult ride and AED 60 for one adult and child ride. And while advance booking isn’t mandatory, it is recommended for obvious reasons.
