24 Hours In Chicago: A Perfect Fall Day

With winter looming and COVID-19 ever-present, like many others, UAE residents are looking for destinations that are both green and gorgeous for a vacation or half-term break this October.

The aestheticaly rich and bustling city of Chicago, also known as the “Windy City”, has so much to offer this fall. Only 16 hours travel time away (direct into O’Hare international Airport from Dubai International Airport with Emirates), Chicago is known across all ponds for its skyscrapers, museums, parks and deep-dish pizza. To get you into the swing of Chicago, we have put together the perfect first-day itinerary, so you don’t have to.

Sunny Side Up

Start your day off right with breakfast at Sunny Side Up Cafe, just minutes away from all the premier shopping, restaurants and hotels the magnificent mile has to offer. Whether you are looking for breakfast, brunch or lunch, the cafe provides generous portions, Monday through Sunday, with inside or patio seating. The first visit must-haves: The Chicago Way breakfast with a side half-order of buttermilk pancakes and the house coffee – you can thank us later.

GO: Visit www.sunnysideuprestaurant.com for reservations and more information.

Museum of Contemporary Art

A short walk from Sunny Side Cafe (‘gotta walk off those pancakes we just devoured), the MCA, established in 1967, offers four stories of modern and invigorating art exhibitions and programs. Considered the largest institute devoted solely to art, there is plenty to marvel at on your visit to this stunning attraction.

Chicago Architecture River Cruise

Another must is the Chicago Architecture River Cruise. It tells the story of the city’s growth from a small native settlement to the big beautiful, and friendly city it is today through the history of the most iconic buildings. There are many picturesque and Insta-worthy moments on the 75-minute journey along the Chicago River. The tour will truly set the tone and give you an innate appreciation of the historic city.

Navy Pier

Stretching into Lake Michigan, Navy Pier is truly a sight to see. The lakefront offers a range of experiences from restaurants, kayaking, arts and culture exhibitions to on-the-spot bookings for various tours, including the Chicago Architecture River Cruise and dinner river cruises. It’s a great spot for everyone to enjoy. Even if you want to go for a stroll along with the pier and breath in some fresh air, with a view like this one… you won’t be disappointed.

London House Rooftop

Get there while it’s (kind of) hot. The LH Rooftop is a populous bar and restaurant located on the 22nd floor of the London House Hotel in North Michigan. Known for having one of the most breath-taking 360 views of the city paired with delicious cocktails and unique nibbles, it’s also the place for those looking for an excellent artisanal American cheeseburger. With its antique yet modern and affectionate feel, it’s a great place to unwind from your action-packed day, catch the sunset and enjoy that jazzy Chicago atmosphere.

Where To Sleep: Gale Chicago

If you are looking for a hotel that offers a central location (just off Michigan Avenue) with a boutique luxury feel, we recommend staying at the Gale Chicago. In one of the city’s most beautiful neighbourhoods, the Gale is surrounded by restaurants, attractions, and best of all, shopping – we know you want to.
