Located in Mayfair, it has welcomed Princess Diana, The Beatles and celebrity chefs.
London Hilton on Park Lane boasts a long and illustrious legacy. Located in Mayfair, London, it sits in the beating and bustling heart of the capital. If walls could talk, we’d be all ears – especially for the stories of British legends who’ve passed through its revolving doors, including Charlie Chaplin, Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana. If you want to join that storied list, then step inside and write your own chapter.
London Hilton on Park Lane is just a short walk from the refined restaurants of Mayfair, luxury shopping at Harrods and Selfridges, and The King’s royal residence, Buckingham Palace. The view from the rooms and restaurants are the stuff of influencer’s dreams. And, if you’re in the mood for a longer stroll, Hyde Park is on your doorstep.
In 1963, the Hilton brand made its debut in the United Kingdom with the opening of the London Hilton on Park Lane. Designed by American architect William B. Tabler, the hotel made headlines as the first skyscraper in the capital. The modernist design was considered futuristic at the time – and today, it offers a retro-chic nod to the Swinging Sixties. It was a hotbed for celebrities: Keith Richards wrote the riffs for Satisfaction, The Beatles met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and Oddjob from Goldfinger made an appearance.
On our visit, London Hilton on Park Lane felt like it had aged gracefully, but it lent more towards business rather than pleasure. Even though the lobby was buzzing with activity, the staff were immediately on hand to help and offered service with a smile.

Rooms and suites
London Hilton on Park Lane is home to 453 rooms and 56 suites. It’s rare to find sprawling suites in the centre of the capital, but the hotel is perfect for families and groups. If size matters to you, book the Cambridge Suite. When we entered, the view took our breath away. The widescreen windows looked out onto Hyde Park, and blockbuster landmarks are given a rarely seen angle.
Located on the 26th floor, it felt like a penthouse suite. The décor is tasteful, featuring soft beiges and browns accented by mustard tones. The living area included a six-person dining table, and sink-into sofas as well as stools where six people could sit comfortably. In the marble bathroom, we had the choice of a shower or a bath, along with Molton Brown products. The bedroom brought together a super king-size bed, 300-thread-count linens, and 100 per cent duck-down pillows. Best of all, we went to sleep and woke up to a view of the spectacular skyline.

Restaurants and bars
London Hilton on Park Lane has made a name for itself on the international stage thanks to its restaurants and bars. The first international outpost of Trader Vic’s opened its rattan doors at the hotel, and was open for more than 60 years. Meanwhile, the MICHELIN-starred Galvin at Windows made its mark with an 18-year run.
Today, it is home to the all-day dining restaurant, Park Corner Brasserie. The breakfast menu included Eggs Benedict, Shakshuka and Waffles with seasonal fruit. The dinner menu showcased modern British dishes, and we were fans of the grilled dishes. Plus, it will be welcoming Mr Porter steakhouse, and the first Shanghai Me outside of the Middle East.

Facilities
Princess Diana chose the London Hilton on Park Lane’s Grand Ballroom as the place to announce her decision to step back from royal duties. While you might not be delivering breaking news, the hotel remains home to one of London’s largest ballrooms, making it ideal for celebrations. During our visit, we had access to the Executive Lounge, where we enjoyed bites and beverages throughout the day. Plus, there is the 24-hour gym, spa, sauna and steam room.

The verdict
London Hilton on Park Lane boasts an old-world charm. While it feels more suited to work than play, we anticipate that the balance is set to shift with the arrival of a new wave of restaurants. Its landmark location, spacious suites, and local as well as international restaurants continue to keep it a favourite among guests. Long live the legend.
