Experience a world of adventure at this Maldivian resort

Siyam World is Maldives’ trendsetting island resort

White sands, check. Crystalline waters, check. Overwater bungalows, check. The island nation of Maldives comprises 1,190 coral islands grouped in a double chain of 26 atolls, spread over roughly 90,000 square kilometres. With 160 of these idyllic islands operated as tourist resorts, competition is fierce, but there is one particular property that is leading the way when it comes to unique experiences and a world of excitement. Meet Siyam World.

More than just a honeymoon destination, Siyam World offers something for every member of the family across its 54 hectares of thick jungle and pristine palm-fringed beaches. As Maldives’ biggest resort in terms of room count, the hotel boasts a collection of 470 overwater bungalows, beach villas and multi-storied beach houses.

Despite its circumference of just over two kilometres, the island of Dhigurah upon which Siyam World sits never feels busy, offering plenty of pockets of seclusion for that picture postcard escape from the world. Yet Siyam World is all about excitement and trendsetting, providing several world-first and Maldives-first experiences for guests to enjoy.

Siyam World
Relaxation Redefined

While many visit Maldives to embark on underwater adventures and marine escapades through snorkelling and scuba diving excursions, Siyam World ups the ante when it comes to thrills and spills at sea. The resort boasts water sports in abundance, from the world’s first underwater jet pack in collaboration with CudaJet to the Maldives-only seabreacher craft. For something more subdued, clear kayaks and stand-up paddle boards are available to rent, in addition to parasailing, jet skis and flyboards.

Siyam World also boasts the only horse ranch in the Maldives, with sunset horse riding sessions along the beach proving a popular choice. Elsewhere, the resort hosts nightly cabaret, fire, magic and belly dancing shows, followed by DJ-driven dance parties late into the night. Siyam World successfully subverts expectations of a Maldives stay with its energetic attitude towards celebration and fun.

Beach Chic

With 21 accommodation categories, guests will be spoilt for choice with the range of one-to six-bedroom villas. Those residing overwater will be guaranteed a slide to transport them from their villa into the Indian Ocean, while that on land have direct access to the powder white sands and shallow lagoon waters. Our one-bedroom beach villa was accessible via a jungle path leading to a spacious 80 square meters of luxurious living space. Contemporary in design, the villa, with its high wooden ceilings, was enhanced with subtle Maldivian accents, while the bedroom featured a king-sized bed perfectly positioned to allow guests to wake up to stunning sea views.

The bathroom offered a back-to-nature approach with its double vanity, outdoor shower and deep tub for soaking. Additionally, ample closet space, a mini-bar (re-stocked free of charge each day) and large flat-screen televisions add a little creature comfort to your island escape. Each one-bedroom beach villa can accommodate up to two adults and two children, with two couches that can be converted into beds.

All villas are tastefully designed, with glass sliding doors leading out to a private terrace offering stunning views of the beach and lagoon. The terrace, situated right upon the sand, boasts a private swimming pool, sun loungers and a small dining table perfect for morning caffeination or sunset sips with your toes in the sand. Life jackets and snorkelling equipment are provided in each villa for those interested in exploring the lagoon and its tidal sandbank.

Island Eats

You’ll never need to eat in the same restaurant twice at Siyam World because the resort boasts ten restaurants and seven bars across its WOW All-Inclusive package – meaning you can drink and dine until your heart’s content (Champagne included).

The stunning backdrop of the Maldivian jungle sets the scene for a delightful dining experience at The Wahoo Grill, where guests can relish fresh seafood and a selection of steaks; Kurry Leaf offers Indian fine dining with magnificent ocean views complete with marine life; Andalucia serves Spanish delights from tortilla to paella washed down with refreshing sangrias; while Takrai (our personal favourite) serves spicy Thai specialities on a picturesque boardwalk jutting out into the sea.

In addition to French, Italian and Japanese restaurants, Siyam World offers a variety of bars, including beach bar, Together, the jungle-themed and appropriately named Jungali, an adults-only sundowner spot, Mint, and a shipwreck-themed bar serving up a selection of wood-fired pizzas and thirst quenching cocktails.

However, if relaxation is on the agenda, Veyo Spa offers the ultimate retreat for your mind, body, and soul. Set amidst a stunning stone garden that mimics the Siyam World logo when viewed from above, the largest spa in Maldives offers a tranquil and peaceful ambience across 18 treatment rooms.
