The 360-degree light show invites visitors to reflect on the power of light through art and technology.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has just launched a new immersive light show titled Diya: A Universe of Light, an immersive showcase that blends heritage with innovation inside one of Abu Dhabi’s most iconic landmarks. Presented as part of the Light and Peace Museum programme, the multi-sensory experience invites guests to contemplate light as both a natural phenomenon and a unifying symbol across cultures and faiths.

Staged in the Dome of Peace, Diya surrounds visitors with a 360-degree projection powered by more than 1.5 billion lights. The installation layers light, sound, air and subtle vibrations to create an atmosphere that draws the audience into the narrative. The mosque becomes a canvas for reflection, and the show becomes a shared moment of stillness in a fast-moving city.

One of the centrepieces is the Ghaf Tree, the national symbol of the UAE, formed from 160 million lights. In Emirati tradition, the Ghaf represents shelter, resilience and community. Its presence in Diya anchors the spectacle in local history while highlighting values of tolerance and togetherness. The tree’s appearance is both a visual highlight and a statement of purpose for the wider experience.

The visuals carry viewers on a journey that begins beneath a starry sky and touches down on Emirati soil. Scenes glide across green oases, sweeping mountains, glittering coastlines, and the vast desert, culminating at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Each chapter nods to a different facet of Emirati identity and to the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who envisioned the mosque as a meeting point for all cultures, as well as a space of peace, respect and coexistence.

Diya is designed for all ages and adds a fresh dimension to the capital’s cultural calendar. The show pairs technical prowess with gentle storytelling, encouraging visitors to pause, look up and consider the beauty of light and its capacity to connect people.

Tickets are priced at AED 25 and can be booked up to one month before the visit date. Entry is free for those under 18 and for visitors aged 60 and above. Diya runs daily from 9am to 10pm throughout the year.
