Falwa restaurant will channel heritage, creativity and hospitality.
Emirati cuisine continues to take its rightful place at the table, and Abu Dhabi is about to welcome a fresh addition. Falwa, a new restaurant from celebrated chef and restaurateur Faisal Alharmoodi, is set to showcase Emirati cooking with a contemporary twist. While the exact location has yet to be revealed, the concept is expected to occupy a prime site in the capital, positioning itself among the city’s most anticipated openings.
The name Falwa draws from the Arabic word for “little horse,” a symbol of grace, strength and cultural pride. Those same qualities will inform the restaurant’s food and design, with Chef Faisal turning his focus toward recipes rooted in tradition and reinterpreting them for today’s diner. Menu details remain under wraps, but the direction is clear. Guests can expect familiar family favourites presented with modern technique, seasonal produce and an eye for detail.
Chef Faisal is one of the UAE’s most respected culinary voices. His seafood restaurant Ryba in Al Mina has earned consistent acclaim, including a Bib Gourmand at the MICHELIN Guide Abu Dhabi for the second consecutive year, making it the first Emirati-owned restaurant to receive that distinction. Ryba has also been recognised with a FACT Dining award, underscoring Chef Faisal’s ability to balance authenticity with innovation and to deliver value without compromising on quality.
Falwa in Abu Dhabi extends that philosophy. Beyond the plate, the experience will celebrate the spirit of the UAE through thoughtful interiors, warm service and a narrative that honours the past while looking to the future. The aim is a restaurant that feels unmistakably Emirati, from the spice notes and slow-cooked traditions to the welcoming style of hospitality that defines dining in the region.
