New In Town: Grills @ Chill’O, Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche

Tabletop BBQ’s and sunset vistas are the draws at the revamped Grills @ Chill’O.

Despite a somewhat confusing tongue twister of a name, Grills @ Chill’O is back at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche having undergone an extensive refurbishment over the summer months.

The new venue has undergone more than just a lick of paint, with the construction of a beautifully designed structure having been erected on the pool deck. The bottom half feature a comfortable dining room and extensive bar area overlooking the picturesque pool, while upstairs diners will discover a garden terrace complete with grass and gurgling water features. As impressive as the transformative new construction is, it’s the sea views from this elevated position that will likely be the main draw to the newly enhanced and much-improved venue.

Take a seat and marvel in sunset vistas and views over the dunes of Lulu Island and the azure waters of the Arabian Gulf as you sip on expertly crafted libations and indulge in a menu of Mediterranean cuisine and exciting grills. Grills @ Chill’O is a hybrid of casual eatery, urban chic decor and a vibe of pure relaxation.

If you’ve visited Grills @ Chill’O before then you’ll understand that the venue is not the only element of the dining experience that has undergone a stylish revamp. To accompany the new-look venue, the menu has been updated. It now features a focus on freshly sourced ingredients as well as an expanded range of the ever-popular signature grills.

We begin with creamy burrata and halloumi fries that are undeniably addictive, and the latter boasts a crisp exterior adorned with bejewelled pomegranate seeds that give way to a cheese-laden interior. 

As the name suggests, it’s the signature grills that people return to Grills @ Chill’O. Presented on a tabletop BBQ piled high with grilled meat or seafood, the visual alone is enough to have us reaching for our phones so that we can take a snap for the gram. The mixed seafood grill would be our preference, piled high with lobster, shrimps, fish and lamb chops and kept at temperature thanks to the fiery coals beneath. Fresh from the grill, a charred taste is imparted onto the food making for an enviable dining experience that is difficult to find in the UAE capital.

After so much surf and turf, we feel stuffed. Still, we cannot resist the trio of desserts that includes a remarkable chocolate fondant and sticky date cake adorned with edible sugar flowers that are almost too pretty to devour!

Grills @ Chill’O has undergone a remarkable transformation and emerged as a dining destination that puts Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche on the map. The new fit-out is stunning, the ambience relaxed, the service friendly, and the food is to be admired. Perched on the upper deck, Grills @ Chill’O is undoubtedly a wonderful place to be, especially with the current cooler climate. An illuminated rooftop, beneath jagged skyscrapers and an emerald green swimming pool, Grills @ Chill’O offers a casual dining spot with a gourmet twist.
