• Paris Society will open MŪN at J1 Beach, replacing Ninive Beach.

  • Originally included in J1 Beach’s restaurant plans, the concept builds on its Champs-Élysées original, which opened in 2020.

  • MŪN will join FACT Award winners Gigi Rigolatto and Sirene by GAIA at the beachfront destination.

The Champs-Élysées restaurant will replace Ninive Beach, reviving a name from J1 Beach’s original restaurant line-up.

One of J1 Beach’s original restaurant names is back on the agenda. Paris Society has announced that MŪN, its contemporary Japanese concept born on the Champs-Élysées, is coming to Dubai. Replacing Ninive Beach, the restaurant will bring a different culinary direction to this stretch of the Jumeirah waterfront.

For anyone who followed the development before its launch, the name will sound familiar. MŪN featured in J1 Beach’s early restaurant plans and Ennismore’s announced openings for 2024, although a specific opening date has yet to be announced.

MŪN’s story began in Paris in 2020, at 52 Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The original restaurant combines an intimate dining room with a rooftop setting and views across the capital, pairing Asian cooking with the glamour of a Parisian night out. Its terrace and late-night drinks have helped shape an identity that extends beyond dinner. Dubai will take that character into a new seaside setting, adding an international chapter to the brand’s Paris roots.

At J1 Beach, plans centre on an indoor restaurant and an outdoor garden beside the beach. Contemporary Japanese dishes designed for sharing will anchor the experience, while music, drinks and a relaxed atmosphere will encourage guests to settle in for the evening.

The Dubai menu has yet to be confirmed. In Paris, the kitchen moves from nigiri and sashimi to spicy toro crispy rice, Wagyu gyoza and miso black cod with cucumber and daikon. Desserts include black sesame crème brûlée and matcha mochi, offering a guide to the flavours that could make the journey to Dubai.

“Bringing MŪN to Dubai has been an ambition for some time,” says Rizwan Kassim, CEO of Paris Society. “Its Japanese cuisine and Parisian character add a distinct experience to the city’s dining offer. At J1 Beach, we see an opportunity to contribute to a destination where dining is central to the appeal of the beachfront. This opening reflects our confidence in Dubai and in the people who will help us build the next chapter of Paris Society here.”

The opening adds another layer to J1 Beach’s mix of seaside restaurants, beach clubs and international names. The destination already has two FACT Award winners in Gigi Rigolatto and Sirene by GAIA. At the FACT Dining Awards Dubai 2025, Gigi won Favourite in the European category, while Sirene by GAIA took Best in the Greek category. MŪN will join a beachfront district where the food is already as much a draw as a day by the sea.
