Dubai’s dining scene has another name to get acquainted with: Qasbah. Sunset Hospitality Group’s upcoming Arabic dining concept is set to open at Mama Shelter Dubai in Business Bay. With a focus on regional identity and the spirit of gathering, it sounds right at home in a hotel with plenty of personality.
Qasbah in Dubai takes inspiration from traditional meeting places and Moroccan influences, with a Pan-Arab approach that puts social connection at its centre. The idea is rooted in a place where people come together, making the occasion around the table an essential part of its appeal.
Speaking to Caterer Middle East, Marc Maroun, vice president of nightlife at Sunset Hospitality Group, highlighted the importance of creating venues that build a lasting relationship with residents. “What Dubai has is an abundance of openings, which is not the same thing as an abundance of destinations,” he said. His comments point towards an appetite for evenings that combine dining, entertainment and a reason to return.
Sunset certainly has a sizeable restaurant repertoire to draw upon. Its portfolio includes SUSHISAMBA, where Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian influences meet, contemporary Korean concept HANU and Japanese restaurant Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori from acclaimed chef Akmal Anuar. Elsewhere, the FACT-award-winning Mott 32 is known for its Chinese cuisine, while L’Amo Bistro del Mare is popular for its sophisticated take on Italian seafood. Qasbah will add a distinct Pan-Arab proposition to that international line-up.
As for the address, Mama Shelter feels like a natural match. The Business Bay hotel embraces colourful interiors and a sociable approach to hospitality, with places to eat, drink and socialise woven into the experience. Its four terrace pools, semi-submerged bar and outdoor CineMama screenings give guests plenty of reasons to linger.
