The UAE’s winter openings are giving us plenty of reasons to update the dining diary. Joining the lineup is SOBA Dubai, which is set to open at Address Downtown in mid-December 2026. The restaurant will blend Turkish and Japanese cooking, with the Burj Khalifa providing the backdrop.
SOBA’s funky fusion concept draws on the strengths of both Turkish and Japanese culinary traditions: skilled preparation, respect for ingredients and generous hospitality. These shared values will shape its approach to bringing the two cultures into one restaurant.
The menu at SOBA Dubai will feature sushi and raw preparations alongside traditional Turkish flavours, grilled meats and ocakbaşı-style fire cooking. Sharing will be central to the offering, allowing diners to move between the two cuisines throughout a single meal.
Inside, burgundy tones, natural timber, cream stone, Rosso Levanto marble and antique brass will sit alongside rich textile detailing. A sculptural ceiling installation inspired by the Silk Road will bring together horses, Turkish motifs and tulips with Japanese sakura, carrying the cultural references high above the dining room.
Around 80 guests will be accommodated across the restaurant, bar and ocakbaşı counter. Outside, a 160-seat terrace will face the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain, with an integrated floor-cooling system intended to help keep the space in use during warmer weather.
Entertainment will also form part of the experience at SOBA Dubai, with participatory moments including a signature ritual inspired by Japanese wagasa parasols.
Co-founder Mert Türkmen says: “Our vision is to bring Turkish soul and Japanese precision together in a dining experience that feels completely new to Dubai.”
Address Downtown’s central location puts Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain within walking distance. With the hotel connected directly to the mall, diners can pair a meal at SOBA with shopping or a stroll around Downtown Dubai.
