Abra at Souk Madinat Jumeirah
See one of Dubai’s most famous landmarks from a different angle aboard a traditional wooden abra. The 20-minute journey winds through Madinat Jumeirah’s waterways, passing palm-lined gardens, restaurants and Arabian-inspired architecture with Jumeirah Burj Al Arab as the backdrop. Dubai Creek
For one of Dubai’s cheapest and most atmospheric outdoor experiences, spend a dirham crossing Dubai Creek. Dubai’s annual open-air world tour returns in October 2026 for Season 31. Jais Flight
This is the big one. Jais Flight holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest zipline, stretching 2.83 kilometres across the Hajar Mountains. One of the UAE’s more unusual natural phenomena can occasionally be found near Al Rams in Ras Al Khaimah. A Dubai winter weekend is not complete without a wander around Ripe Market. The outdoor market returns to Academy Park on 10 October 2026 and runs until 2 May 2027, celebrating its 15th year. Browse local farmers, artisan producers and homegrown brands before stopping for street food, live entertainment or children’s activities. The relaxed community atmosphere is what sets it apart from the city’s malls, particularly on a cool Saturday or Sunday morning.

Sand Sherpa
For a desert experience that lasts longer than sunset, spend the night inside Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve with Sand Sherpa. The operator has exclusive permission to offer camping within the reserve’s wilderness area, placing guests among protected dunes far from city lights. Overnight stays use private camping trailers with rooftop tents and include wildlife drives, nature walks and meals beneath the stars. Camps run seasonally from October through May.

Skydive Dubai
Few Dubai views compare with Palm Jumeirah seen while freefalling at more than 200km/h. Tandem jumps from Skydive Dubai’s Palm Dropzone climb as high as 13,000 feet before the leap, with Palm Jumeirah, Ain Dubai, Burj Al Arab and The World visible below. Sky Views Edge Walk
If XLine Dubai Marina is not enough of a test of nerves, step outside a skyscraper at Sky Views Dubai. The Edge Walk takes place 219.5 metres above Downtown Dubai, where participants walk hands-free around the tower’s exterior perimeter while securely harnessed. Burj Khalifa dominates the skyline directly ahead, creating a remarkable perspective of the city. The experience can also be combined with Sky Views’ glass floor and transparent outdoor slide.

The Dubai Balloon
Floating above Palm Jumeirah provides a completely different perspective on Dubai’s most recognisable man-made island. The tethered helium balloon beside Atlantis, The Palm currently rises up to 225 metres, with 10-minute flights offering 360-degree views of Atlantis, the Arabian Gulf and skyline. Unlike a traditional hot-air balloon flight, it remains attached to the ground throughout. Sunrise and sunset are the standout times, although operations remain dependent on weather conditions.

The Dubai Fountain
One of Dubai’s best-known free attractions still deserves a place on the winter itinerary. Set on Burj Lake beside Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, the choreographed fountains combine music, lighting and vast jets of water across the lake. Evening performances currently run every 30 minutes between 6pm and 11.30pm. Cooler weather means you can linger around the waterfront rather than retreat immediately indoors, with numerous terraces providing alternative viewpoints.

Golf ability is optional at this enormous entertainment venue beside Emirates Golf Club. Topgolf Dubai has 96 hitting bays where up to six players compete in technology-assisted games while balls are tracked and scored automatically. Umm Al Quwain Kitesurf Beach Center
A short road trip from Dubai leads to one of the UAE’s more relaxed beach escapes. Kitesurf Beach Center in Umm Al Quwain specialises in kitesurfing and watersports, with a naturally styled outdoor gym and access to the surrounding mangroves. Nearby Casa Mikoko adds kayaking tours, dining and a tropical beach atmosphere. The low-rise setting and lack of skyscrapers make the coastline feel worlds removed from Dubai despite being an easy drive away.

Wadi Hub at Hatta Resorts
Mountains replace skyscrapers at Hatta, around 90 minutes from central Dubai. The surrounding Hajar landscape is threaded with hiking and mountain-biking routes, while seasonal operators add ziplines, archery, zorbing, climbing and other activities around Wadi Hub at Hatta Resorts. Visitors can also try axe throwing, mountain biking, tube sliding, off-road Rover rides, mountain e-scooters and hiking trails, while younger guests can enjoy quad bikes, pony rides and a splash pool.

World Islands
Dubai’s famous world map is best appreciated by actually leaving the mainland. The offshore archipelago contains man-made islands arranged to resemble countries and continents, with resorts providing the easiest way to visit. The Heart of Europe sits around four kilometres offshore and is reached by a 15-minute boat ride. Once there, private beaches and open Gulf views create an island escape remarkably close to the city skyline. Visitors can stay at Côte d’Azur or Marbella Resort Hotel, wander the climate-controlled Raining Street or relax on white-sand beaches. Future additions include The Floating Venice and further themed hotels and residences.

Wild Wadi Waterpark
One of Dubai’s original waterparks still offers a strong mix of thrills and family-friendly rides beside Burj Al Arab. Wild Wadi has around 30 attractions, including the high-speed Jumeirah Sceirah, Burj Surj and Master Blasters aquatic coasters. For something slower, Juha’s Journey provides a 360-metre lazy river. Following its annual maintenance closure earlier in 2026, the park is now reopen ready for another season of outdoor water-based fun.

X Line – Dubai Marina
Flying between Dubai Marina skyscrapers is every bit as dramatic as it sounds. XLine stretches for one kilometre from a launch point 170 metres above ground, with riders reaching speeds of up to 80km/h in a Superman-style harness. Twin lines mean two people can take the plunge simultaneously, while photos and video are included. The combination of height, water and densely packed towers makes this very different from the mountain ziplines elsewhere in the UAE.
